This contemporary yet rustic restaurant is well off the tourist track. You need to get a tram and walk through some dark suburbs or get a taxi. Definitely get a taxi back.
We were made very welcome and service was exemplary from arrival to departure. Wine was very reasonably priced, (16 euro for our choice), to it being of the best value on our whole visit to Rome. There was plenty of choice for food. Which arrived hot and superbly cooked albeit some dishes were simple but delicious. Don't expect a vast array of spirits or brandies. A cognac at 7euro was fine to finish off the evening. Only an expresso was on offer as a coffee.

This is the restaurant for you if you’re looking for a place that… (1) serves modern twists on traditional Italian dishes, (2) has great, friendly service, (3) has an extensive and very affordable wine list, (4) has a contemporary but comfortable setting, (5) is far away from the crowded touristy areas of Rome. Our 6 person group ordered many items from the menu and everything was super fresh and very delicious. We had 4 dinners in Rome and this was our favorite place. It is located in an up & coming (i.e. slightly sketchy) neighborhood so we took an Uber to and from the restaurant and it worked out fine. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Check this place out!

This was an incredible restaurant. My partner and I went last night and we loved it! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the food - they checked in with us the perfect amount of times; there was always someone on hand, but they weren’t overbearing. The best thing about it was how affordable it was. For two young Londoners, having three courses so perfectly made with a wine, a soft drink and an evening espresso (when in Rome) we couldn’t believe it only came to £50. Best £50 I’ve spent on a meal. Would definitely go again and recommend to others. Go if you can!

Both the ravioli and beef filet were mediocre. The worst part of the meal was the steak which was barely a 4oz filet very undercooked with a few potatoes for 22 £ The staff however were very attentive and accommodating. Incredible service, mediocre food, small portions, high prices.

The food, the service, and the ambiance was amazing! Properly portioned food (actually it’s good for sharing too!) which leaves you excited for the next plate. Ask the crew for suggestions if you do not have any particular dish in mind and they’d gladly give you a suggestion. I will keep coming back to this place now whenever I am in Rome.

We were amazed by the friendly, communicative and professional attitude of everyone here. Even remember our faces when we visited the second time.
The food especially the main courses were all equally exceptional both in presentation and taste for their price range.
Would definitely recommend and revisit if i ever found myself around Pigneto, Rome in the future.

First time for me at Va.Do, intrigued by the photos and reviews on the web I decide to book a table for dinner by phone. Once we arrive at the venue to welcome us we find a kind and smiling team who immediately puts us at ease.
Interesting menu to discover, not at all banal, we opt for a fish dinner with starters (Miami lime and Raw and crunchy) and second courses (Rivado and tuna and Salirò) far more than up to expectations, all accompanied by a bottle of white wine selected from an extensive wine list. The dessert was inevitable to conclude a dinner consumed in a welcoming room with the right music that created an intimate and peaceful atmosphere served by professional and friendly operators who were attentive to our needs without ever being invasive.
Excellent quality/price ratio, possibility of parking in a nearby garage and no negative notes to report for my first experience at Va.Do.
In the hope of finding Rocco again and finally meeting Federico, I will return!

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and even better food. The staff is kind and helpful. The waitress made excellent wine recommendations and the food was delicious. Both desserts we ordered were fabulous - the cheesecake and the chocolate salami. You will be happy if you come here!

We spent New Year's dinner in this establishment and we were very disappointed, contrary to the reviews!
All the dishes were cold. The starter should have been crispy (brick sheet), everything arrived warmed up and soft.
The sequence of a dish of ravioli then pasta literally ruined the entire meal. Half of the plates returned full to the kitchen. Next, the piece of beef was raw on a cold mash again.
Finally, the dessert had no flavor.
All for the exorbitant price of €85 per person without drinks (expensive for Rome).
A fake gourmet menu under the pretext of an evening on 12/31.

The place is very welcoming. Short menu (not a bad thing) but everything done properly. Was also surprised with the wine list. Varied and well priced. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Ravioli alla gricia with carciofi was our favourite dish out of the four we tried. Would have gladly returned tonight to try more dishes if only they opened mondays! Will be back next time we're in Rome. Thanks for the great night guys!

The atmosphere was really good, with good music that was not to loud. The staff was friendly and gave us recommendations when we asked. The food was good, but far from the best we have had in Italy. The starter was the best part of the meal, and we had pulled pork and naan. Two of us shared the 'eleohant ear' as a main course, which was not what we had expected, but the taste was ok. The pasta with shrimps and the ravioli with aubergine were both really good dishes.

I stumbled upon this restaurant in the Pigneto area by chance and I must say that everything was top! From the welcome of the guys in the room, to the delicious cuisine offered by the restaurant up to the owner, Valentina, who is of unparalleled kindness.

We are in the Pigneto area, close to numerous bars where you can pleasantly continue the evening. The place immediately presents itself with a rather "rustic" theme, from the seats to the walls, wood and exposed bricks in full theme with the place, the menu (paper, plasticized) is also curious as in an ancient trattoria. All this until you inspect the menu, where Asian cuisine mixes with numerous Roman recipes and beyond, drawing inspiration from numerous regions around Italy, very intriguing but also quite confusing given the numerous dishes offered. We start with two appetizers, yellow submarine, or a particularly popular and very tasty cod croquette, and some vegan nam, somewhat banal rolls, as well as the side dish of vegetables sautéed in the wok previously ordered with the appetizers, not very tasty and without that boost of taste they deserve. We continue with their proposal of cheese and egg ravioli, tasty both for the filling and for the ravioli dough (even if you could add a little bacon) and vegetarian noodles, appreciated for their taste, a little less for their thickness. some noodles and slightly abundant broth, which was also not declared in the description of the dish. Desserts to review, here unlike starters, first and second courses, the choice is more reductive and is based on classic dishes that can also be found in another restaurant. Mango cheesecake and chocolate cake to finish, which as imaginable are rather basic and neutral in flavour, certainly don't leave you speechless!
I am sure that it is a restaurant worth trying several times in order to better discover its flavours, given its extreme variety of proposals, it is easy to stumble upon disappointing dishes. All in all average value for money, friendly and "homely" service.

Everything is perfect, from the courteous but never pressing service to the fact that upon request I was reserved a secluded table where I could be comfortable with a stroller. The dishes are delicious and refined with excellent quality raw materials. Good wine list.

Magnificent discovery near where I live.
Traditional Italian dishes with variations that further enhance the quality of the raw material used.
There is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere of a Rome that is not at all touristy which confirms the high quality of this exceptional place.
Generous portions and refined wine list at excellent prices. Well done. 👏🏻👏🏻
