Osteria da Tonino is in a small corner in the Chaiai neighborhood of the otherwise metropolitan Naples. Sticking to its humble roots as an Osteria, both the ambiance and staff are friendly. Our server provided excellent recommendations and explained the dishes and wine well. We tried some of the basics, such as pasta pomodoro and zoupe fagioli along with the... More

Going to Tonino is like being at home. I'm from Naples although I live abroad and I find Tonino perfect to have an excellent meal with traditional Neapolitan dishes you would eat at home. Quality price is absolutely fantastic. Service practical and quick. Located in the nice area of Chiaia.

We had a quiet Sunday lunch in January here. The pasta was simple and excellent followed by a tasty meat stew with beautiful braised peas. Italian comfort food in a homely setting. Good value for money and well worth a second trip!

I liked it mostly because we happened to be in front of it just randomly walking around, It was a nice surprise my not italian friend and girlfriend were surprise by how often the boss was insisting that people would put Parmesan cheese on their pasta. PS understandable as Italian but might result a bit annoying if not from this... More

We were recommended to look for Osterias for freshly cooked local food at good value. We ate in this Osteria 4 times at lunch time in a week and were never disappointed. The service and food were excellent and the place was always full of locals, which generally means you get good value. The menu changes a little every day.... More

We visited on a Saturday night after we had gone to Da Bruno and it was closed. We were lucky they had space and we were the only tourists in the restaurant. To start I had a pasta with clams which was fresh and nice and my partner had a cheese and potato soup that was delicious and very homely.... More

I know I know, it's harsh and I don't slate somewhere lightly, but this really was awful. In Naples for a few days and wanted something other than pizza. Looking for a trad Osteria in Chiaia we went to this place on recommendation. There are a ton of stickers on the door proclaiming it as recommended by XYZ guide book... More

Simple Naples home-style food, with some very good dishes (we had small fry and mozzarella pizzaiola, cooked in a pan with tomato sauce, and braciola di vitello in ragù - a veal scaloppina long stewed in fresh tomato sauce) and many bland ones (most of the starters, pasta first courses and second courses, and desserts). Servings were also small, including... More

I've been stopping in da Tonio since my first visit to Naples over 10 years ago. I know that I can always expect simple home cooked food in adequate but not over-filling portions at a very reasonable price. I have visited over and over again. This is very authentic Naples food. There is a different menu every day so if... More
