We had lunch here while visiting Capri for the day - was a lovely setting overlooking the water.
Wait staff were very attentive, food was lovely and good value for money.

After having enjoyed lying chairs on the beach we went for lunch to the restaurant part where waiters gave us excellent recommendations from the menu. Everything was perfect, from food to service. We strongly advise that place if you want a Capri farniente experience.

Capri is hard to leave. Which is why we decided to try the beach club and restaurant at De Gemma to squeeze in a few more hours of the experience before returning to Naples. Assuming the location of this beach club would draw the crowds we didn’t expect too much in terms of peace and cuisine. We were utterly wrong. De Gemma served us the best lunch we’ve experienced on Capri with the same friendly, precise service, and a tranquil yet vibrant area lounge. We listened to the waves crash and playing children squeal with delight whilst happily reading our books. Once again another lesson in the benefits of assuming nothing. Artfully prepared fresh pasta and crisp wines by the glass. Will definitely return.

We had a dreadful meal at Da Gemma today. We allowed 1 hour 40 minutes for our meal as we knew we needed to catch a ferry afterwards which we thought should be more than long enough for a 2 course meal.
We had booked a table for 2 o’clock but it wasn’t ready and we weren’t seated until 2:15. We managed to order pretty quickly and the menu is lovely, but we then waited over an hour for our starters. After 40 minutes of waiting we spoke to the waitress to inform her we had a ferry to catch and had already been waiting a long time but there was no urgency at all - only 25 minutes later did the food come. Over an hour waiting for a starter! Meanwhile we watched tables around us get served starters and mains while we were waiting. I have never known anything like it and such little remorse or apology from the staff. The restaurant was by no means heaving, with it probably half empty by the time we got served.
We ended up having to cancel our mains as we ran out of time (again, the staff didn’t seem to care at all) and rushed out shortly after. The food itself was very nice but no chance we would go back - the slowest service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant and no gesture of apology at all.
Thoroughly disappointed as we were so looking forward to this meal. Gutted.

Well, to start the place was so busy so I could not expect much about the service. We decided to eat but we wanted to stay on the subbed which was not possible, according to the waitress that was serving us we needed to get a table, eat and then use the sun-bed. We needed pay for the table and the sun bed which h was 2 euros per person. I ordered a fried calamari and they charged me 28 EUROS for that. I was expecting something more expensive but not that. Plus an octopus dish which I will include the picture charging 35 euros and tasting burned. Honestly, I recommend you to book before you visit Capri another place and check the reviews. What saved the day was a boat we rented and left this place.

Dear Guest, we're sorry if we didn't satisfy you at the best. We serve at table for we adore a better restaurant service, indeed all the beach clubs on the Island have the restaurant and, like us, prefer to offer an unique experience instead of an uncomfortable lunch. Of course, all the prices of our selections are clearly shown in the menu, and we agree: reviews are important. Actually, several hundreds of guests have already left top reviews about our high quality specialties. Come back to Capri, and we'll be glad to let you enjoy a nice day by us. Thanks for your time

We had an absolutely lovely experience at Gemma Capri. Lucio, our very kind waiter, managed to get us the most delicious seared tuna and seafood salad, despite the kitchen being closed. Giuseppe made us some killer cocktails- very refreshing. Definitely will be returning!

We ate lunch here. Had the sea food rissoto (32 euros) because it said it was min 2 persons thinking it was a sharing platter and 16 euros each. Turned up and was 2 very small bowls and they then charged us 64 euros for them. They said it was not a sharing platter but needed a minimum of 2 people to order the meal. I told them that the menu was misleading and not explained properly. They also added extra items to our meals such as apple juices for my child when we only had one.. Just be careful what you order and check the receipt of what they add on to make it more expensive.

I had a lovely experience at Da Gemma today. Although the food was expensive we opted for the cheapest thing on the menu being a panini for 10 euro, after food we were invited along to the pier where they had sun loungers with a shade attached, this could be used for as long as you wanted because we had lunch within the restaurant, we were served by a lovely gentlemen named Gicciano who was very friendly and kind, we left after 2 hours but ended up coming back for the last two hours of our trip and Gicciano welcomed us in with open arms and even remembered my name, we relaxed by the beach and had amazing service from him for the rest of our visit, I really enjoyed our time here and will return if we ever make it back to Capri! Thank you Gicciano for making our Capri trip special :)

Worst meal we had in Italy. Terrible service and horrible food. They did not even bother to de vein the shrimp in their mixed fried seafood or take out the bones of the fish. I could not try a bite of it without gagging. The pasta with clams was bland and thick and the sauce was not tasty. The risotto had one shrimp cut into five pieces and was forgettable at best. We asked for pepper and it never came. Asked for ice and that was also not brought. Asked for our lack luster leftovers to be packed and they never brought them back. We asked for a side order of mashed potatoes for our baby and they charged 10 euros for lumpy, raw potatoes. We paid 116 Euros in all for two people, one 5 year old and a nine month old to eat here. It would have been fine if the food had been even half decent but we have had way better for a third of the price all over the Amalfi coast. Please avoid this tourist trap that charges high prices for very sub standard food.

We had just arrived in Capri and were very excited to have a nice early dinner. I had read the reviews and decided to try it for ourselves. We had a bottle of rose a caprese mozzerella with beautiful tomatoes and basil. Then we had their grilled octopus over a puree of mashed potatoes served with fresh green beans. The presentation was lovely and the service was great. The owner came over to make sure that we were happy and we felt that the staff cared about their guests. The views overlooking the water made the experience special. We highly recommend it.

Marvellous restaurant with thoughtful maître Lucio who will make sure all you eat reflects your preferences. Loved their fish pasta, both the more "traditional" recipes (paccheri con rana pescatrice) and complex rich dishes (gnocchi cacio pepe vongole con pomodorini confit). Affordable and delicious wines, rich desserts. Breathtaking view, good service, will definetly come back!
Please note there is a wonderful beach bar by the same restaurant close by where you can enjoy full sun until 19:00! See pictures

On our long-awaited mother and son vacation and in our penultimate destination Capri, Italy we went to see the funicular and walk through Marina Grande finding the Ristorante Da Gemma at one end.
The first point has an access ramp that is highly valued for someone like me who travels in a wheelchair. Immediately one of the waiters placed my son and me in a comfortable place, clearing any obstacles that could interfere with my movement.
The attention from the beginning made us feel very pleasant.
From the varied and affordable menu we chose a Tartare di Manzo e basilico pesto and a Tonno Tataki, Friarielli e Stracoatella, a glass of wine and coca zero. Everything was exquisite and for dessert they gave us some bites of sweets with a very soft texture and a perfume enveloping lemon and vanilla.
All very friendly, waiters and the hostess (we did not know her role) of undeniable warmth, with fluent Spanish even though she was originally from Capri who invited us to return to sunbathe from the beach adjacent to the Ristorante.
Thank you for the good service and excellent food.

Beware tourists. I am italian, and a journalist. I must say, great food, great waiters/waitresses. Owners not so much. The bill was sort of “strange”. It did not reflect the prices on the menu. Oysters were supposed to be 8 Euro each but out 4 oysters were
48 in the bill. I told them and they, looking quite ashamed, corrected it. I don’t know about the other dishes (did not remember the exact prices) but who knows. Attaching the bill in which you will see that my tomato sauce spaghetti (out of the menu) were charged as if I had ordered, say, five portions… you can just imagine about the rest

In early July I booked da Gemma for a dinner in late August; the booking was confirmed. Just yesterday, I received an email cancelling my reservation -- two weeks prior to dinner; a Saturday night! No explanation; no offer of an alternative time or date. Clearly the restaurant had to accommodate someone more important. I'm going to tell our hotel, the Quisisana, about this. The restaurant may be good with beautiful views, but this is no way to treat a customer. There are plenty of other restaurants on Capri.

We were on Capri for the day and had lunch here, we ate well, it's a shame that on the menu it says that the first course of the day costs 34 euros and the waiter, like everyone else, offered us off-menu items, a shame he forgot to tell me that my pacchero with sea bass would cost 50 euros! From the photo it's 85 minus 35...they didn't have a specific entry. Obviously the advance payment in the photo was not followed by any receipt. I only realized now... From now on I will check the receipt before paying but it's not done that way!
