I have discovered that also Matera (like Altamura) is famous for bread and I am eating a lot of bread in Italy. In this place I have tried something in the middle between bread and pizza, called "focaccia". Never heard before, but it tastes good

The focaccia was delicious here, my husband went back for a second slice. Lots of vegetables. A cheap tasty lunch we enjoyed sitting in the shade of a tree, people watching, whilst we waited for our guide.

For a takeout try the focaccia at Casa del Pane. It was the best we had during oir trip, however they seem to sell out early in the day.
