My friend knows the owner and although it was a busy Sunday afternoon, we got to sit outside facing the ocean on a beautiful sunny March day. A very popular restaurants with many waiting in line. My friend is from here and she ordered ‘arroz caldoso con marisco’, a wet version of paella with seafood stock, friend calamari, mussels and really good aioli. Like anything rice here in Spain, to me always too salty albeit great flavours. Calamari was very fresh and nicely prepared. Not too expensive and the service was good. Love to come back.

a dinner not to be forgotten

We are happy to have chosen this restaurant for our dinner. We ordered icious paella, and were pleasantly surprised when the waiter Oscar served us a larger portion at no additional cost. The food was exceptional, the service impeccable, and we felt truly pampered, and a killer price. We will definitely be back soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very good, paella is fantastic especially “paella de marisco”. The place is pretty, with woden tables; waiters are prepared in particular oscar, patient and caring: he helped us choose what to eat and knows italian pretty well. I would come back.

This was not a good evening! We are a young couple and we noticed they absolutely did not take us seriously, they laughed at us, they were talking about us. It was our idea to eat here, but we felt so uncomfortable that we asked for the bill after a drink we drank so fast as possible. We don't know if the food was good, but the place next to them served the same food for half the price and it tasted good!

Rudest waitress ever

Having visited El Trompo last week and having had an enjoyable evening we decided to return again. We booked in advance and on arrival were met with a waitress who appeared totally disinterested, ignored the fact that we had booked, and showed us to an empty table. This later seemed to cause issues about reserved tables not being occupied. We ordered drinks from the same surly waitress who returned and slammed them down on the table without a word. We ordered the food and were again greeted with total disdain. The order arrived, missing one dish, delivered in the same abysmal and aggressive way. Further drinks were ordered and slammed on the table. Other diners seemed to be receiving the same treatment. On paying the bill by card, the machine was thrust at me without a word and snatched away on completion of the transaction without a word of thanks or the option to ask for a receipt as the waitress marched off. I think this is the first time I have not left a tip but the whole evening was overshadowed by the rude and aggressive behaviour which was in total contrast to our previous visit. Not surprisingly we will not be going back.

As a group of friends searching for a meal for 7 - we were advised Paella was the specialty. We were advised by the waiter 1 paella fed 2 people. We then decided to order 3 paella’s, 1hr 30 mins later we were sent one cold paella and 3 steaks when we ordered only 2. After being huffed at by the waiter - we questioned where our other 2 paella’s were, to be told the kitchen had closed, and that the mistake was our fault. After calmly pointing out the miscommunication, the waiter disrespectfully raised his voice blatantly telling us the blame laid all on us. He then offered one solution by informing us he could order at least 15 paella’s costing us €300! He then rudely stomped off, told us to leave, and that there was no need for any form of compensation - in fact threatening of “consequences” if we did not leave. Atrocious customer service, intimidating waiter, 10/10 would avoid.

Tourist trap with no Covid distancing

Tourist trap and absolutely no safety distance between tables, chairs from different tables are back to back - hard to believe this is allowed in a city where curfew is imposed. Low or medium quality food (good price to be fair), but we had higher expectations as we had been in the traditional restaurants at the beginning of the ‘Puerto’ where food is amazing (high prices but well paid). The service was at same level as food, not very friendly. If you can try some other options, almost sure they’ll be better, and if you can pay it aim for the restaurants at the start of that avenue.

1 hour for a paella

We had booked a table for 10 pm (time indicated by the restaurant we had asked for availability at 9 pm) arrived we are told that it was impossible to have booked a table at 10 pm and that our Reservation was not there, despite having there chat with the evidence. However they make us sit down and order a Paella València, they make us wait 1 hour for a discreet paella thus ending up eating at 11 pm. Nice location but decent cleaning but not to wait 1 hour for dinner

Unpretentious, with wooden tables and minimal decoration, it is clear that the money saved goes all into the food and service and reasonable prices. It was packed on a day when other restaurants were not. Get there early to be sure of a place. Best paella around! One Sall point - the toilets could do with updating and tidying up. Lack of toilet seats is not acceptable in this day and age. Special mention to Melanie for first-class service.

The service was horrible, worst ever have had. The waitress never even look at us for half more than half n hour, every table around arrived after us have been served and had starter before we even order. We ask for the bill and waited again more than half an hour. Every single waiter don’t look at you to avoid et contact. I been in hospitality for a while, the employee are looking like headless chicken running around. They need some proper management. Instead, I must admit the food and kitchen are doing very well, the food is tasty and the food timing is also great

Local on Las Arenas beach with fantastic sea views from the large outdoor terrace. Friendly, multilingual staff. Elena, of German origins, very helpful and even though she struggled to understand us, she recommended some excellent fish-based tapas. Fairly decent toilets. You need to book in advance as read in other reviews. I was able to personally see the considerable queue that forms outside for those without reservations waiting for a table also due to the fact that it is also frequented by Valencians. Good sangria, but without fruit and not very fresh, the only reason why I don't give it five stars. Paella De Marisco at 16 euros per portion full of fish compared to others tasted in Valencia and in the Albufera area. Advised!!

Exquisite food, but very, very slow service. Other times we have gone, and we have realized that depending on the location of the table they serve you better or worse and today we have not come at all satisfied. We're probably not coming back. We would call the waitress and the waiter who would attend our area and they would pass by without looking. They didn't seem to hear or see us. We have had to be raising our hands throughout the meal and insist many times to be attended to, especially with drinks. How unwilling to work.

Nice little restaurant on the beach, with covered veranda and dehors, where you can taste a good paella and an excellent sangria. Booked for 4, due to wind we asked for a place on the internal veranda. Undecided whether to opt for a fixed or à la carte menu, thanks to the excellent advice of Oscar, who speaks Italian and was constantly attentive to all our requests, as well as very nice, we opted for the à la carte menu: two fried calamari, baby octopus and anchovies (excellent frying, not spoiled and tasty), while waiting for a delicious bread with plenty of allioli and finally fish paella, tasty, rice not overcooked, and not very salty. All accompanied by a pleasant and fresh sangria which, thank God, was not very sweet. Excellent! To be repeated!

Extremely disappointed considering reviews. Paella was burnt, with very little meat and chicken overcooked. Only offer one white wine; sweet Rioja which is just an alcopop at 10.5 per cent. Raised issues with manager and they were not concerned at all and thanked us for coming. Dont waste your time!

Very good and well received for a meal with friends. The paella is a reference in this beach restaurant. I recommend. Just allow time because as this beach restaurant is always full, the waiting time is perfectly extended.
