El Corte Ingles is a sophisticated department store. However, coming from NYC, it does not thrill me. The food court is excellent, however, you can buy goodies for your friends and family. The restaurant on the top floor has a wonderful view of the city of Madrid. The food is good too. But, don't miss itfor the view!

On the 7th floor of the El Corte Ingles department store are a couple of affordable and informal restaurants providing an easy lunch/dinner option when dining alone or with family. The concept is much like the restaurants you find in high end department stores in the U.S. Somehow, having choices all in one place and the retail setting make it... More

We had dinner here twice and the food was quite good as were the prices. Our only complaint is that it took over 20 minutes to get a waitress to bring menus and write our orders. This restaurant is on the 7th floor of the department store building.

We stopped for a quick dinner and french fries and a pie. The waiter was quick, very helpful and prices were affordable

I'd read about the roof top bar in el corte ingles and as we rode the escalator up to the top floor I'd started to question myself but it was even better than I'd expected. Like a glamorous food court with lots of choice. Even on a cold February afternoon we enjoyed a glass of wine on the sun trap... More

I had heard it is a great place to watch the sunset over some Madrid city churches below from the 9th floor. There is a good choice of food, vso we got a couple of pizza's on the request of the children. We found a good spot by the window and my wife and I had glass of wine, although it... More

A great choice of different restaurants with a view. All with a view of Madrid from the 9th floor of the building. All the food was excellent. We found this place by accident. Our hotel told us their was a grocery in basement. After buying several 2 liters of Coke Zero, we went up escalator. Then another escalator... then another... More

A dizzying choice of foods from different restaurants in a single setting. You can get pizza from one counter, wine from another, cheese from a third and gelato from yet another counter. All with a view of Madrid from the 9th floor of the building. All the food was excellent.

I visited here twice, had a drink once. I didn't have any food but great smells were everywhere! If you want a really great panoramic view of Madrid, with a fine choice of food and drink, come here. You can shop on all of the other floors to work up your appetite or thirst, then make the rooftop your final... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
