Be aware that we were 4 colleagues (2 couples) and no idea about the bill. Anyway looking at the menu and prices specially those depending on the market made me felt not confortable. Despite of this we really enjoy "tortilla de Betanzos" and beef (only for 2), with great white Galician wine. Honestly food with really high quality but a... More

I have been several times to this restaurant offering good quality meals and service. Food is traditional with a highly recommended tortilla, one of the best I have tasted. The place is in my opinion more suited for business than other types of occasions.

The food is of good quality, but the portions are very small for the prices they charge. The main negative point of this restaurant is that the waiters are rude and arrogant towards the customers. We did not feel at ease during our dinner.

The quality of the food is good. The portions are small and the service was not friendly. We were in and out at high speed

From the recommendation of a local, native Galician work colleague to the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, I expected much more. My meal was okay, but even though I ordered the especialidades de la casa, I honestly don’t understand where the high marks come from. The meal began with promise. The complimentary olives were good, if salty, and the crusty... More

Really good restsurant that offers galician food and wine. Racommended its tortilla as well as its typical cooked meat. Also to try Ribeira Sacra wines.

This was an excellent dining experience with my colleagues from Madrid. For starters we shared an omelette, chunky spiced octopus and razor clams. For a main course we had an excellent sea bass served on the bone. The two white wines recommended by the waiter were also excellent. It's a fairly quiet and sophisticated ambient. Definitely a culinary delight in... More

Went here whilst visiting a friend locally. We went for the Sunday lunch service without a reservation, which to be honest was a bit of a risk. We got lucky, but definitely best to make a reservation, this place was popular. With good reason in my opinion. I was a bit concerned when I saw how big the place was... More

La Penela is a Galician restaurant very close to the Plaza Castilla in Madrid. It is not a typical touristic restaurant and it is worth the time it takes to find it. We have been there several times and each one gets better. The specialities such as the *Tortilla betanzos", the "ternera asada" and the "filloas calientes" are to die... More

Also the Galician "Pulpo a la Gallega" was good. They have other sort of Galician specialities, and their Spanish omelete, is famous, although I am not very keen on too soft Spanish omelets.
