Our first stop for a meal upon arrival in Madrid. We were staying just down the street and wanted a place within easy walking distance. Our desk clerk at hotel recommended this place and I'm glad we went. Service was good (even with the English/Spanish language problems. Tapas were excellent.

Our fourth visit at our fifth trip to Madrid. Celebrating the birthday of my partner in company of twelve friends, we made a reservation for the first time. After a little struggle who- what- I which order it turns out to be the perfect evening. A " free-for-all from the menue, despite the announcement only a pre- ordered selection of... More

Wait staff and chef very helpful and welcoming. First meal in Madrid. Wide variety of food, so look forward to coming here again during our stay. Artichokes, eggplant and calamari all fresh and expertly prepared. Yum!

I am spanish and since I live abroad when I come to Madrid I like to eat good spanish food. Madrid is full of good restaurants and this is not an exception. They told me to book in advance since normally this is really crowded and I used "el tenedor" app to book a table. Once I got there I... More

Well visited place on Gran Via. I absolutely loved their tapas. Tasty, juicy, crispy,... just perfect. Though it took its time until we were served (due to the amount of guests), it was worth waiting for it!

This is a great place for a relaxed dinner on the Gran Via. Service was excellent, and the food delicious. It is a bustlingplace, but the staff made us very welcome. The menu contained many typical Spanish delights. I had two starters rather than one main course, but that was not a problem. The salmorejo and the croquetas were both... More

We were looking for breakfast, but passed this place on the way and saw they were serving tostade con tomate, which was what I was looking for, so I had it with tea. My girlfriend had the churros and hot chocolate, which is much better in Spain. All of this came to less than €6, and were served by a... More

We love this place. It's one of our favourite breakfast joints in Madrid. We pretty much always get the tostada with tomate and a cafe con leche for €2,50 but it's delicious and fresh. Usually pretty busy but you shouldn't have a problem getting a spot before noon.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
