I was looking to have a real Spanish meal prior to leaving Madrid and I found it. My family and I arrived as they opened at 130 PM and had a great meal. The manager or owner and staff was very attentive to us and went through each item on the menu and explained what it was in English. I... More

We were staying within walking distance of this gem and made a reservation on-line. The restaurant opens at 9pm and by 9:15pm every seat was taken. We tried to look at them menu on-line but it is in Spanish only. When we sat down, we ordered a bottle if wine and asked if there may be an English version of... More

Ambience is cozy and moderne with wood and exposed bricks. Service very attentive. The tables have central leg so no problems to join a couple for a large group. Tableware is nice but the glasses specially wine cups are too thick. They have an extensive well selected wine list. One of the maitres is a wine expert, ask him, is... More

I am on a mission to find the best tortilla de patata in Madrid and provide an unbiased review about the bars and restaurants that serve them. I have been to Sylkar, El Meson de la Tortilla de Gabino, Juana la Loca, and Bodega de La Ardosa, and Cerveriz and tried their regular tortilla de patata. This was probably my... More

The host accommodated us without a reservation even though they were full, recognizing that we were tourists. The tortilla trufada was absolutely delicious and the tortilla rota en sopa de ajo was prepared in front of us. Also muy rica. For a second course, we picked the tuna. Our server warned us it would be rare and we were good... More

Excellent place to eat in madrid! Great scandinlavic interior design, good food and nice staff. Menu is not big but sufficient. Not that expansive. Average bill with vine 80€ for two. Main coarse is about 20€.

Las Tortillas de Gabino offers the BEST Spanish tortilla in town; the variant with truffle is a personal favorite. The rest of the menu offers a great selection of quality products prepared with fantastic execution. Best in class atmosphere, ideal for a joyful dinner with friends, a romantic date with you significant other or a professional business lunch. The service... More

No reservation but restaurant accommodated us nevertheless on a very busy saturday afternoon. Warm service and excellent food. Server recommended we share several courses and it was a good way to taste many items without eating too much. Highly recommend!

We arrived at 1:30 when they opened and had no reservation. They accommodated us and were so wonderful. Most spoke English, which helped us, and their recommendations were perfect. I had the Sea Bass & my wife had the chicken curry. The curry sauce was one of the best we have ever had. We split a tortilla for the starter... More

It is not common in a Spanish fine restaurant to enjoy the possibility of been offered tortilla española as one of the main dishes of the menu. That is not the case of this restaurant that has a complete menu of different types Spanish tortillas to choose. The remaining content of the menu is also very good.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
