Their tortilla de patatas (tapa, omelet) was absolutely to die for! The caramelized onions made this sweet, savory dish. My friend and I were also craving fresh greens after eating heavy food all week and their salads were great! Also a big portion as well! The waiter was nice and tried to make conversation with us in English. Locals were... More

We've been living in Madrid for almost two years in La Latina district, famous for it's tapas bars. And still in this area with enormous number of restaurants, Juana La Loca is the one of our favorite. Nice menu with a typical Spanish meals and nice daily offers. Nice variety of vine. Friendly and fast service. Medium price for dinner... More

...... although we almost did as our cab driver dropped us right at the door then told us it was over the other side of the square - google maps brought us back to where we started. We had booked before coming based on a Times travel mag recommendation. What a find. Food is as everyone describes - fantastic. We... More

We were staying in La Latina so went to this nearby restaurant. It blew away our expectations and was by far the best meal we had in Madrid. The torta was flavorful with many textures, the sea bass was buttery (one of the best raw fish dishes I've ever had), the oxtail was succulent and the dessert was the perfect... More

Ok, so this place is so amazing that it's always mobbed! Be patient, on Saturday night we waited about an hour before we were given a table, just as well the drinks were good! It was sooo worth it tho! I ordered 2 specials, one being tuna tartare and the other one they called ''half-salted salmon''- mouthwatering! There was probably... More

Friends who are locals recommended this place for dinner and it certainly did not disappoint. We ordered pintxos and the steak and were blown away. Everything was crazy amazing and the prices were reasonable as well. I would recommend this resto to everyone visiting Madrid. Just be ready to wait as the place is quite popular.

We went there with a friend for my last evening in Madrid and were not disappointed. The restaurant is small and quickly crowded so do not forget to book a table for the first service. Once seated or even standing at the bar, ask for the tortilla. It is to die for! The rest of the menu is very good... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
