Enjoyed a very nice sea bass in this restaurant. The fish was cooked to perfection. Received complimentary codfish croquettes as entree and some churros style dessert afterwards. Excellent service from the staff. Very recommendable.

Grilled octopus and fried calamari and a house salad. 3 different fishes and a salad for main. 3 desserts. All good. Service was great. A little pricey. All good. Service was great and pleasant.

When you go abroad you always want a restaurant that the locals eat in rather than the awful tourist food. I was lucky enough to receive a tip from someone I knew from Madrid who recommended this restaurant and its my duty to pass the same tip onto you! Restaurant - cosy, Mediterranean feel, live lobsters in the fish tank.... More

I was spending few days in Madrid and I was looking for a place where to eat 'polpo a la gallega' and I came across this restaurant. I did not make any reservation and I was lucky getting a table as most of the tables were reserved. Food was very good and staff very helpful in selecting the right food.... More

Came here because we really wanted some proper seafood. Not disappointed. We had the set menu, which was excellent. Huge fresh mussels, galician octopus followed by sea pike. All well presented and pleasant service. Looked like it may need a face-lift but in some ways it added to the atmosphere! Fills up later like most Madrid restaurants. Worth a visit.

This is a great seafood restaurant. Large variety of fresh, boiled and grilled fish and shellfish foods. Service was great, environment is friendly price is reasonable for the quality and service you get. Highly recommended if you look for a seafood restaurant in Madrid. Fits relaxed business and family occasions as well.

The food was good, I can't complain. However, the service, was not as I expected from our fellow Gallegos. I was constantly asking for service, bread etc..... The cost was over the top for the service and food quality provided.

While I had high expectations due to the reviews, I was disappointed in not only the food but the service. From the start it took about 30 minutes to even be greeted by a waiter and have our drink orders taken. We ordered the house rioja which was good. For an appetizer we had the gambas alajillo which were very... More

This restaurant has existed since 1915. Love this place, excellent service, quiet atmosphere, and traditional decor. Started with an amuse bouche, corquettes de morue, tasty and nice texture. The portion of house salad is big and has an interesting combination, tuna, egg, mango, pickled pepper, tomato, avocado and greens, refreshing and quite filling. The seafood platter is so fresh that... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
