I love the atmosphere. It is a very good place for having a cocktail in the evening. The menu looks tasty but I have only had a drink.

This is a very informal bar / restaurant tucked away, close to C / Princesa in the Arguelles area. A good choice of original and well-served Spanish dishes at reasonable prices for the stylish area. The decor is smart/ casual and the service is attentive...and knowledgeable. Staff - and menus - are also fluent in English!More

After reading the mixed reviews I was concerned our lunch would not go well, but pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious... artichoke salad, octopus, scallops, and sole mio. All very good and we loved the house red wine. The kids had spaghetti and chicken fingers,...both very good. The olives they put in the table are excellent. The environment is also very nice. The service was not the best but was also not bad, no complaints. I would return.More

My friend and I are out on a placement trip from the university and this restaurant was next to our apartment so we went in. Lovely little place, food was delicious. However, one staff member Rochelle was extremely rude and shoved the bill in our...faces and kept coming past to take our money when we hadn’t finished our drinks.More

This place was recommended by my hotel as it was close and I was jet lagged and not feeling adventurous about diving into the city. So my expectations were not high, and some Trip Adviser reviews were negative. But the food I had there was...fantastic. I love grilled octopus, and getting it done properly in the States can be a challenge. This was served on a bed of mashed potatoes, and the octopus melted in your mouth. I also had the grilled scallops on top of half of an avocado dressed with a vinaigrette: totally wonderful. Brought a colleague there the next night and the food was equally wonderful. Also, don't missed the eggplant parmesan. And on top of all this it is incredibly reasonable. Highly recommended.More

Casa Mono is not somewhere you would jut come across as it is down a back street. The interior was trendy and friendly and the staff were attentive. We ordered the steak and the chicken and both were prepared expertly and in a Spanish style...very much to our liking. We also had a 'pudding' the apple tart - and again this was very enjoyable. The wine was also very good and reasonably priced and we would happily visit this restaurant again.More

I was there in a private event for business and it was really nice. Food was good and service ready to help. There were flamenco dancers to entertain a bit and from time to time the audience which made a difference as well.

What a waste of time and money. If you only like good food and don’t care about service, go here. In all other cases, DON’T GO. I went here with my wife and we were astonished by the arrogance and miserable service of the staff....They didn’t ask 1 question during the 45 minutes we were inside. All plates were shameless dashed on the table after each other. Staff only had an eye for each other, inclusing inappropriate dancing, kissing etc. How weird. Only good thing was: they forget to charge us the wine.More

The food was excellent, Spanish traditional dishes available but also Asian influence. Excellent service. And a very trendy interior.

This was my first meal in Madrid. We went with a number of Spaniards and they walked us through the menu. It seemed very authentic and it was delicious. The service was perfect. The wine list was extensive. Would absolutely go again.

Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense
University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced,
collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is
filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes
and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing
cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping
spot where the major Spanish clothing and department
store chains are less busy than their downtown
