The service was professional. Food was ok. One waiter can speak little English that would cater your needs. Many locals frequent the place as it offers varied traditional Spanish foods. There is free WiFi but quite poor. Accessible as it is located on the main street of Gan Via.

The waiter tried to steal from us over charging the prices, he charged for bread that is complimentary everwhere else and the food was forgettable, even gave us an attitude when we confronted the over price, just dont vother to visit it

Only ever had breakfast in here. They also do tapas and menu of the day.Coffee is fantastic. Probably the best I've had anywhere (this is personal opinion). Service is fast and friendly and when you've been in a few times they start to line your drinks up as soon as you come in. Friendly service. Go for one of the... More

many restaurants, cafes and bars in the centre of Madrid (and certainly within easy walking distance of the Gran Via) are touristy and overpriced. But while Valdemeso does seem to get the occasional foreign visitor most of its customers seem to be locals who drop in for a beer, some taps or raciones and sometimes arroces of different kinds. I... More

If you want real spanish food de la casa you should visit this place. It's more like a bar-restaurant. You can feel the real spanish climate. Waiters shouting, people talking, lots of noise - I love it! :) it's not a place for family dinner with small children... Wide choice od steaks, seafood, ham, fishes, wine, beer. I really recommend... More

It was mistake of our trip, we didnt had a time to search for a restaurant, because Flamenco show had to start after one hour, and it was quick choice. Restaurant isn't expensive, but we did understand why. We did Mediterranean soup, which was very bad for a price 6.5eur. i wouldn't eat it at all. Castillian soup was normal,... More

I was staying around the corner at the Hotel Liabeny and since I am not a large breakfast eater I did not purchase the breakfast at the hotel. I went to a few places in the area but ate breakfast at Valdemso the last 5 days in Madrid. I had the Classic which was a Barrita roll cut lengthwise, toasted... More

If you happen to be nearby and looking for an inexpensive meal, this is a reasonable choice. Don't make a special trip! A small restaurant near Dos Castillas hotel and El Corte Inglese department store. Seats about 40 in the back plus bar service in the front. The prix fixe menu was 13.75€, including bread and wine. In fact, the... More

They have wonderful Menus' del Dia We had wine, bread two plates ( one full size portions, is a starter I guess) and desert for 9 Euros ! Waiter has probably been there for many, many years. ....he was a wonderful character . Good service good food at surprisingly reasonable prices ! Loved the unpretentious atmosphere

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
