This is a place that specializes in slow service, ignoring the customer, and mediocre food. Yes, it's cheap, but that's no reason to have people linger forever over a plate of french fries and whatever you ordered (no matter what you order, it comes with french fries) seemingly forever. Pass it by, and go some place in which they care... More

We went here looking for a late breakfast after checking out of our accommodation. We waited ages for somebody to address us and then when they finally did they told us to just sit wherever we wanted to. It was another long wait until we got menus and our order taken. I ordered English Breakfast tea and was given Earl... More

We stopped here for lunch one afternoon, and while the food was nothing special, it was adequate. The service was friendly, and slow, as the restaurant was pretty packed and only lightly staffed. They did offer menus in English. For American visitors you can think of Vips as a Denny's, with slightly higher quality food.

The other half wanted to try it for breakfast. Belgian chocolate shake was excellent. I had eggs benedict - so wrong. The 'hollandaise' was simply two blobs of yellow, oily mayonnaise (vile aftertaste) on top of very greasy eggs and very greasy, shrivelled bacon. Couldn't finish it and I eat most things. Waitress was quick and friendly though. Chain so... More

Service little slow but worth the wait. I ordered rack of ribs and it was so tender and delicious, served with french fries. Location was easy to find in the Gran Via. Staff speaks good english too.

I had dinner at this restaurant with a my colleagues from work. It was a Friday night so there were a lot of people. It's interesting to mention that at this restaurant people who suffer from celiac disease can eat it here, as one of my colleagues does. We ate sandwiches. I ate a delicious Kentucky sandwich, so tasty! The... More

We ate in Vips twice during our stay in Madrid, on our first night we arrived at about 7.30 and ate upstairs where we tucked into burger and fries which was very filling and very reasonable. Our last morning in Madrid we returned for breakfast, i had the american brunch which was 2 pancakes, bacon, scrambled egg and wedges with freshly squeezed... More

Food was very bad. Worst than the included breakfast of a 3 star motel in USA. Service was OK. Don't go unless you are starving and in urgent need of food and there is no other choice.

Not mind-blowing but they have a gluten free menu and the food was sufficient to sustain life. The service was fine and the location is convenient.

Terrible. Surly service, poor menu and the food was cold and greasy. Would not - and indeed did not - go back. Avoid

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
