This authentic, long-established Tapas bar on Calle Victoria in the heart of old Madrid is a sweet find just down from Puera Del Sol. Face Kilometro Zero, walk left and take the second street right to wend your way down from the Sol Metro station....More

The food here was perfect, although on the pricey end. But everything was delicious. I didnt like the Pulpo but my husband did. The calamities, scrimp and padrons pimientos was so good ☺️

La Casa del Abuelo...The House of the Grandfather. Supposedly this place has one of the best "Gambas al Ajillo" (aka Shrimp Scampi) in Madrid. Lots of tapas bars offer this dish for a lot cheaper, but I wanted to try the best... €10.90 for raccione(portion),...More

Originally went with our Devour - Historic Madrid Wine and Tapas Tour (which I highly recommend as well). Loved the garlic shrimp, wine and atmosphere. A definite must! Delicious! Loved it so much we stopped by the next day for lunch.

It's not the friendliest place in Madrid, and you don't get your own plate (or extra sharing plates, or knives), but I really loved this place. The menu is small and almost exclusively seafood, with a few vegetarian options and some cold meat/cheese items. As...More

No, at all. I don't think they accept reservations anyway. In the worst case, you can always go to other locations which are very close - around 2 minutes by walk.

Description
La Casa del Abuelo is one of the Tapas Bars that you can't miss if you visit Madrid. This house is more than 100 years old and it's one of the most representative Taverns in Madrid. Specialities are shrimps in all of its varieties: grilled, with coarse salt and looking for the prefect cooking point and garlic shrimps, served in our terracotta casseroles with virgin olive oil, garlic and parsley. The tradition is to eat the shrimps with the red sweet wine "El Abuelo" that made this house famous. Today everything is served the same way than 100 years ago!
