I just had lunch today with my wife. I ordered 2 dishes. The grilled small cuttlefish was very good - 12 Euros. I ordered the seafood Paella rice. The rice was very good but the prawns that they gave me was something that I did not expect. They were really not fresh at all. 6 prawns, everyone one of them... More

Food here comes from the Hotel restaurant - you just have to ask for the menu as only the coffee and cakes are obvious.

We were two couples who went to have lunch at this restaurant. The restaurant is quite elegant. The menu of the day cost us 22 euros each and we had two plates each. The food was great and the service was very professional and friendly. The restaurant is beside the Hotel Regina.

I describe this restaurant as being old fashioned with terrible foos. Not worth the trip and the 50% discount when it is booked online. I went there with my family and sister's kids. Nobody enjoyed. I have made available some photos of the so called Sangri-La, Ricy Paela and other orders.

Went looking for a retaurant particularly with a paella in mind. This restaurant had been recommended but reviews had indicated the the prices were a bit much. Found the restaurant & were delighted to find that mains & desserts were now 50% off. Very nice style to the restaurant but quiet. From the off, the waiter although he spoke little... More

We often wanted to eat outside the standard Spanish times and staff here were happy to comply. As we were staying in the hotel (Regina), this was convenient

As we come to the end of a fine trip to Europe, we look back on some very good meals. None was better than the one at Amayra. We started with a white fish with caviar followed by a creative appetizer with cured ham with cranberry jam on toast. Just the right combination of sweet and savory. Next was a... More

Went there with my boyfriend on a 50% discount offered by the fork. Food and service just awesome. Only thing, we were given a menu where paella price seemed just too high (31 euros/person). Maybe a bit too much.

Amayra is in the Hotel Regina, where we stayed, and was more than handy. The food was fine, and the bar staff was helpful. Husband was there enough that he knew where the English language menu was, and figured out what he could eat on the menu by the time we left. We enjoyed actually watching the jamon iberico actually... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
