We went here and had a plate to share... We got the English menus, which we shouldn't have, trust me, if you have a few words of Spanish it is better to guess from their Spanish menus! We had a shared platter of seafood. Turns out it was all fried or deep fried, we both got sick. Seriously sick, I've... More

Every year we come here for lunch. I think we must have tried everything on the menu. Each of us has a favourite, but we all love the clams in tomato and the baby squid. Be prepared to be stuffed. They have this soup dish with rice for two and there is no way you can finish it! The waiters... More

We had a few semi-raciones here between bars and decided to return for a proper taste at lunch-time on Saturday. At 2pm the tables were beginning to fill up with family groups but we were accommodated easily. Despite our poor Spanish, the waiters were friendly and helpful and introduced the various dishes to us. Amazing olives and creamy bacalao on... More

We had lunch, and ordered all the daily specials. This made it one of the best meals we had in Madrid. It is not as trendy as other restaurants we went to, but the food was perfect. Everything we ate was good. The service was also perfect.

We found this restaurant the first night of our week long stay at a nearby rental apartment and were so delighted with it we returned on two subsequent nights. It has a large outdoor seating area where the locals prefer to sit however, we preferred the interior which was old fashioned but delightful and atmospheric. The food was simply superb... More

This cosy restaurant offers very good fish dishes with the traditional spanish taste. During summer you can also sit outside, but then you're on the street. The service is very friendly. You can have lunch til 5 p.m.!!!! Arroz con bogavante (Rice with lobster) is their specialty and the plate is really big, so make sure you're hungry enough!!! Very... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
