A really nice quite restaurant close to our airbnb. I would say the prices matched their quality of food and service. The salad had a delicious warm brie in the center and the meat plate was cooked to perfection. Dessert didn't have enough pie crust for me but yummy nonetheless.

It is a perfect place to enjoy good food, with French inspiration, in a very small place. Cozy and elegant. The owner is lovely and the service is great. Good for a private business lunch and also for a quiet couple dinner.

Food was Ok, but it didn't worth the price we were charged. Service was poor since waitress barely spoke Spanish and she wasn't able to explain the menu.

We picked this place because it was literally 100 steps from our apartment. It was our last night in Madrid, and we were tired and it was rainy. This place is authentic french and is very good if that is what you want. the artichokes with foie was FANTASTIC. there were 4 artichokes and the foie on top of them... More

Beautiful small restaurant in the Chueca neighborhood. Owner very personable. Service was good. Had beef braised in a wine broth, so tender, served with fried potato strings that complimented the texture and flavor of the meat. Husband had the duck that was cooked the way duck should be, medium rare. The appetizer, though seemingly expensive, was a huge portion of... More

If you are looking for real spanish food (and not a touristic place) Moncalvillo is the place to go. Really good meat and vegetables and good wine. Excellent service. I have been in Madrid for a week and Moncalvillo has been the BEST restaurant in which I have eaten.

The restaurant is charming and the food excellent. The owners are two wonderful and delightful aristocrats and the restaurant is always busy with the beautiful people of the city- An absolute must go when visiting Madrid and its open for lunch and dinner.

One of the best steak tartares (if not the best) I have ever had in my life. Fragrant home made bread and delicious desserts. The kind of restaurant I'd go back to regularly (if I only I lived in Madrid!).

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
