This restaurant has a bit of a history and dor thay reason alone is worth a visit. The food is not brilliant but not any worse than any of the surrounding establishments. Though it is nice to sit outside, have a comfortable meal, stare out...More

Disappointing experience at this restaurant. Server was very good and the starter of local pate was fine though perhaps too much for one person. But the peppered sauce steak was more than disappointing. I ordered medium well however it came out both rare and cold...More

We were happy to be outside on the gorgeous plaza, the service was pleasant and the waitress was good, but the menu was so-so and poorly translated and the dinners we were served weren’t hot. We will go back, but just for drinks or coffee...More

This restaurant is considered an historical place for eating in Girona but I found it a bit too “tourist-oriented”. The service was ok, not the typical warmish kind of approach we are used to in Spain. The menu has a wide variety of proposals, fish...More

Our hotel recommended we try this restaurant, it’s in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the old town, but that adds to the charm of its location. They offered a nice variety of local cuisine from the área and we were surprised at...More

I wish there were six stars to give. Casa Marieta is “worth a detour” as Michelin would say. Not to say this locale is snobby or expensive or cutting edge. It’s just perfect. Olek was an attentive waiter, clearly well trained in the Marieta way...More

We searched and read every review on trip advisor for a restaurant in Girona and we were not disappointed! We had a lovely lunch with the best rose outside in the plaza. We started with the croquettes which were good and simple. The cannelloni was...More

Description
Casa Marieta was founded in 1892, at the same time as the first stage of the modernist movement (the end of the 19th century) and the opening of the old narrow gauge train line between Girona and St. Feliu de Guixols. Ever since, Casa Marieta has offered its customers home cooking based on tradition and a familiar welcome. The Catalan sense of tradition is evident in all the dishes currently on the menu: chicken with crayfish, roast lamb, duck with pears, sepia with peas... All home-made. Restaurant Casa Marieta is located on the emblematic Placa Independencia, in the beautiful city centre of Girona. The cathedral, which has the widest Gothic nave in the world, can be seen from the Square. Crossing the stone bridge over the River Onyar, you enter the heart of the old city which has a historic relationship with the Jewish community: the Jewish Call and Torre Gironella.
