Having read some reviews and wanting paella we decided unfortunately on trying this restaurant. We did have a reasonably pleasant greeting but it was all downhill after that! Considering this is supposedly a "fish restaurant" we expected the paella to be good. We chose Mixed Paella which was just BAD, it consisted of mainly bits of dried up "sausage", ONE... More

If I could I would give "average" for the price and very good for the rest. This is an interesting looking place close to Barceloneta Beach, with options to seat outside and inside. The menu, obviously, is all about sea food but it's a lot more expensive than other good restaurants we've been in Barcelona - example: La Tertulia, a... More

Pleasant service & nice to sit outside as well. Food was fine - set lunch with paella . Not the best food in Barcelona but certainly decent . Wine list is short & to the point .

If you have the smile on your face and on your heart you can get a great time in Suquet. Staff is friendly if you are friendly. You can try the menu or you can ask for the catch of the day, or just ask for the house specialty Suquet Stew. We had a good white wine simple named WHITE... More

Just enjoyed a pretty good lunch, sitting outside. We sent for the set menu as it had what we wanted on it...anchovies, mussels, bacalau and of course paella. It was good value at €36. service was very friendly. Pretty good bottle of verdejo for €22. The room inside looked nice, would come back in the evening.

Love this place - wonderful service and better food. Situated on the edge of the Boqueria Market, it's a must for a lunch break

Delicious seafood and good wine. We just ask for seafood and let the waiter to choose the menu for us. Very friendly staff.

Food was fine, service not quite mediocre, prices way too high. I do not understand the great reviews and Michelin-guide recommendations. Probably the cheaper paella next door is just as good...

Now that is really saying something in a foodie location like Barcelona. But we loved this place. I made a reservation the same afternoon and we received simply superb service and food. The manger was extremely nice and seated us in a prime spot on their patio and helped with the food selection. Everything we ate was delectable from the... More

El Suquet de l'Almirall is probably the best seafood restaurant in Barceloneta. Surrounded by a host of fish and seafood restaurants which are primarily aiming tourists, El Suquet is know by locals for offering great quality. A bit more expensive than the other nearby places, it offers a smaller menu with excellent dishes. These can be classics like paella or... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
