We have recently attended and although it has not disappointed since the quality is correct, if you say you have not been surprised. What's more, the yakisoba's pasta was quite old and the gyoza, a little something for my liking. Dish recommended shake no teriyaki...More

I was a bit fooled by the name of this restaurant. I thought it was related to Koy Shunka which has one Michelin star. I came for lunch, there was nothing special about this restaurant, not even the menu offering. It is just a run...More

Simply the best Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. Superb Japanese cooking served by Japanese waiters in a truly Japanese style environment. Very authentic food with excellent taste and quality. An excellent place to go as long as you reserve with enough time in advance.

I ate here for dinner. The service was excellent and the food delicious and fresh. I was disappointed by the choice of sushi and expected more though.

Great food! The tartare had to have been the best i've had in my life. The chef's selections of Nigeri was also amazing. Everything that I had was fantastic. Great Dining experience.

The now historical Shunka (after the opening of Koy Shunka, kak koy, majide...) is still of the best place in Barcelona to eat japanese food and in particular sushi and sashimi. The quality remains with the years excellent, the service is very fast and professional...More

If you are looking for high quality Japanese food and want to avoid fancy pretentious restaurants, go to Shunka. They serve amazing sweet shrimp sashimi! If you want to impress and don't mind spending, then try Koy Shunka's menú degustación, but you may need to...More

Japanese restaurants serving sushi attract an expectation of high standards. I'm no different. The food was absolutely top standard, but personally I'm not fond of sake. This little detail is enough this time to knock a point off the total evaluation score. You'll enjoy the...More

Description
In much of the West, Asian food is ubiquitous; but in Spain, especially Barcelona where haute Catalan cuisine reigns supreme, it is downright adventurous. Shunka, a regionally-rare Japanese eatery whose name means “intense aroma of the season,” harnesses the best of the East-West dichotomy by fusing local ingredients with Japanese-style cooking methods.
