It took me a while to know this establishment was here, even though I am now living in the area. The food is tasty, well-presented, and fresh (the mercado is a few meters away). Afridi has exceptional social skills, which make my company and me feel we are well taken care of. There is an outside dining area, which is... More

My friend and I went to this restaurant on our last night in Barcelona. We enjoyed the food, the staff was pleasant and an overall cozy atmosphere. Even though the restaurant was full when we got there, we did not think the place was too noisy. A bit overpriced compared to other places, but overall a nice experience. Would come... More

Rude staff Overpriced Average food Typical money machine where tourist line up to get a table and you are just treated like another visitor who spend and never comes back...no authenticity at all...

Good afternoon. We would like to know some detail what has been what has caused such an unpleasant image of our restaurant. We asked our staff and nobody remembers any situation out of the ordinary. Thank you very much. More

In comparison to other cafes and restaurants we ate in, this was a little disappointing. Food was good, but other places were exceptional.

One of my fav neighborhood is Barceloneta, and while most tourist stay on the outskirts on the big streets with big restaurants, it is way more worthwhile wandering through the smallest streets. There are a few nice restaurants there, and this one was a lovely surprise. You can choose for tapas, but listening to the Chef's tips, particularly when it... More

After the first two tapas I called a friend in Bucharest and I told him. Hey ! I think I reached a restaurant where God himself is working in the kitchen like chef !

Very good quality food, super chef. Chosen for the snails as a starter and the lobster for the main dish. But the staff could be more attentive. No bread for dipping the sauce of the snails, no tong for holding the snails, etc. Had to ask for a lot of things. The chef can deal with business people, the staff... More

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in Barcelona so expectations were high. Unfortunately they were not met. Service was very poor. We sat for ages before we asked for service to take an order for a drink. We ordered paella which was scant on seafood and very dark coloured (squid ink???) and incredibly salty. Yuk. Sardines were... More

After a couple of times of failed Paella ventures somewhere else this visit to Can Ramonet in late evening was a relief. Seafood was fresh, no fishy smell and JUST delicious. 😍

We had been told that Can Ramonet in Barceloneta and the food was OK, but the service was the worst we have experienced in Barcelona. Yes, we were tourists, but they want our money, they should act their job. Not coming back ...

We are sorry that its experience has not been pleasant. We worried because our service is correct. We will find out if the day of its visit it happened something exceptional More

Description
One says that it is the first house that was constructed in the district of the Barceloneta; their walls later gave shelter to a bar of wines and to a tavern of fishermen. Until in 1956 Ramona and Ramonet they initiate a project that, without them to intuit it, would register the gastronomy of the marine district.
Can Ramonet is a restaurant that watches the past but the present lives, and is that tradition and modernity are not fought. It offers an amiable space devised by the interiorista Lazaro Rosa Violan to facilitate a gastronomical experience reviewed by chef Jordi Herrera, of the Manairo restaurant.
Faithful to the line of Catalan traditional kitchen emphasizing rice and fish, Can Ramonet serves so much in his interior as in his terrace black, caldosos rice and paellas of the house, vermicelli, zarzuelas of seafood or sea breams, meats selections or a well-taken care of selection of covers and classic subjects of gossip and author.
“… and thus it will follow because a place that lasts three centuries has eagerness of being eternal.”

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
