We ate here about 15 months ago as did our daughter, and we’re very impressed with the quality of the tapas and variety. The flavors and combinations of ingredients were well matched, and unique. This time we returned as a 4 person family group and...More

People raved about this place. The ambiance is cool if you sit at the counter, though you may feel pressured to leave by the crowds hanging over you. We sat in the back because we were 4 with a kid. The food was ok. They...More

We revisited Cal Pep for dinner and of course compared it to our last visit some full ten years ago. The food is great, we focused on seafood (tuna tartar, fried squid, octopus, big clams) and fried artichoke, and were not disappointed. We came at...More

We had tuna tatare, clams, octopus with chick peas and fried artichoke. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Love the queuing and just watching the chef preparing all the dishes. Staffs were warm and funny to be exact!

This restaurant was recommended by some food and travel blogs and we decided to try it during our last night in Barcelona. Food is overrated though and prices are not cheap. Waiting time can be very long. I am pretty sure you can get better...More

We try to find the 'hole in the walls' more often than not but this came up so many times on so many lists that we went. I knew enough to go early - and we got there 20 minutes before opening and were, easily,...More

We were recommended to this restaurant by a friend and it was really good. We were a group of 8 so we booked a table and paid the deposit even before we travelled and it all paid off. We let the waiter to pick for...More

Good food but you can do much better in Barcelona if you just want standard traditional tapas while paying quite a bit less. If you spend a more can go for one of the more modern takes on tapas out there. The place is filled...More

El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually
enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few
places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

Cal Pep offers a fresh and bright culinary experience with easy and quick preparations. Our restaurant concept grew from the idea of sharing the dishes, their tastes and flavours, in a 'tapas'-style. Faithful to this style, Pep invites us to enjoy light, exquisite and extremely varied dishes. Cal Pep is authentic Mediterranean cuisine, reflecting Pep's personal style and incorporating seasonal ingredients. You will enjoy fish, shellfish and fresh produce, all prepared with Pep's originality and flair. Welcome and happy dining! For a truly great tapas place, sit at the bar at old-school Cal Pep, Thomas Keller's vote for the best food in Europe. -- The Guardian The 'Tapas Institution' of Barcelona. There is no shtick here apart from superbly fresh seafood, served simply and on plates designed for sharing. -- The Telegraph
