We felt the cozy old setting in the Gothic quarter was perfect. We both had fish and it was fantastic. So was our appetizer and our dessert (the chocolate flourless cake and lemon cake). I liked the little dish of olives and bread. The wine was good and reasonably priced. It seemed there were both locals and tourist at the... More

Took the tip from Fodor's travel guide and this foodie family tried this restaurant on our first night and our first trip to Barcelona. We ordered bottles of red wine, 3 apps, 3 dinners and 3 deserts. Each was fantastic, as was the service and the ambiance. In a week organized around eating, this was my (our) all around fav!

Based on TA notes we decided to book a table here. It was a good idea. The staff is freindly and very professioal. The selection of the menu is like a Michelin star restaurant and the quality is alos on top level. The codfish was the best!! Don't miss the deserts, the selecetion plte is a must!

A very good recommendation from our concierge. We had walked past here many times and not noticed it. After a few nights of tapas we wanted a “proper” meal, and got it here. Wonderful fillet steak cooked just as I asked. Husband’s monkfish was delicious, although the apple accompaniment was odd (fish+fruit=never) Excellent food. Lovely intimate, cosy, welcoming ambience. Professional,... More

Had a cracking meal. Nice atmosphere, helpful staff and some good food. The octupus rice was revelatory. You will need to book.

It's late November so we thought we wouldn't need to book. Fortunately they were able to squeeze us in but the other arrivals had all clearly booked. That's worth knowing because the ambience and the food here are really good, clearly local Catalan cooking, and the staff were very attentive too. Sadly the gazpacho was off and not a lot... More

Intimate and inviting, Café de L'Academia welcomes you to a space that is engaging, medieval in character, as if you're sitting in the midst of scholars discussing the meaning of life and whether the world could actually be round. We went for lunch, and since it was past the normal lunch time, got in right away even without a reservation.... More

We were recommended to go to Cafe de L'Academia by one of our friends who had visited Barcelona last year and it was one of the best meals we had all trip! Which says a lot because we tried many places including two michelin star restaurants. The staff at the restaurant were super helpful and friendly. When we were taking... More

My wife and I tried to get into this restaurant early in the week of our visit to Barcelona and were told that the earliest sitting was at 10:30. On the assumption that something must be good here we booked a reservation for the next night, and were delighted to find that the staff were friendly, helpful and spoke enough... More

This small restaurant set in an ancient building in the heart of the old quarter is a real treat for gourmets. Interesting wines, even by the glass, lots of unusual and delicious regional dishes. Must reserve as it is usually full. Highly recommend a meal here.
