Our daughter discovered this delicious sangria bar during her semester in Barcelona -- 20-plus 7-euro choices in four categories (white or sparkling wine; red wine; rose; beer), with a non-alcoholic ("virgin") in each category. A wonderful place to relax w delicious drinks after a walk along the waterfront.

You have to visit this place if you're in Barcelona! Tucked away just off of the beach, this place is not very big and it has a super cosy atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and it was quick service. The food was incredible, some of the best veggie food me and my sister have had and still with a... More

We arrived as it opened and left as it closed as everything was so good! Thinking we were playing it safe we ordered 3 tapas dishes and 1 burger between us. The portions were generous and looked very appetizing as they arrived. Each dish arrived on its own which gave us time to savour each one. As we finished one... More

I dragged my non-vegan partner here after reading the awesome reviews and we were not disappointed. We tried 2 different types of sangria from the sangria menu which were lovely and each had a burger (the BK King burger was amazing)! The restaurant is tiny and we had to use google maps to find it however it is worth it.... More

100% Vegan restaurant with nice interior and beach location. Loved this place. Its brilliant to have delicious alcohol free sangria on offer as well as normal sangria. We shared various tapas dishes: potatoes, dips with bread sticks, vegan prawns and the tempeh skewers (which were to die for!). The raw tiramisu for dessert was also very tasty. Not awarded 5... My friends and I adore this restaurant, the decor is adorable and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. It feels like being in someone's home. The burgers are incredible - I would recommend the shreek burger and the vegan calamari - it's insane, the first time we had it we genuinely panicked and thought we were eating fish! My... More

Vegan, vegetarian meals, raw food, organic wine, locally sourced, fair trade produce... and it all tastes great, too! I've been here five times since I first discovered this place. The only problem for me is that after the next visit, I'll have tried just about everything on the menu, yet the wine is so good, I'll have to think of... More

This was a little tricky to find but worth it. I was walking from La Rambla and it took me about 45 minutes to locate; I eventually found it tucked away on a residential back street. The place is small and cosy and the interior very red. Most of the menu seemed to be cooked vegetarian/vegan food but I'd gone... More

It took us a while to find this hidden gem. We nearly gave up but we were very glad we didn't! We ate a lot of delicious vegan tapas. If we had been in Barcelona for longer, we would have gone back there again. It was difficult to choose from the menu, as it all sounded lovely. The owner was... More

Bar Celoneta is just a few paces from the beach on the southern tip of Barceloneta and is an evening place open from 6pm. We went on a Thursday "paella" night. The owner was very nice and gave us excellent advice. He told us that he is in contact with the vegan society in Spain so knows that all his... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
