For lovers of red meat - worth the pricey visit

Not the cheapest of restaurants, but not surprising given the location. The high standard of the cuisine probably justifies the price. The beef was absolutely prime and cooked as it should be (for me) - medium rare. More importantly, a UK friend who asked for his steak well done was highly satisfied. So, they will cook a steak just as you want it. Another fiend had fish - this was reportedly excellent. Deserts were also superb. As a starter, I highly recommend the salad bar with a superb choice of home-made dressings. The atmosphere and décor is typical Barcelona. Somewhat up=market, but very relaxed. Service is excellent. You can eat for less in this central part of Barcelona. In my opinion, it's worth spending that little bit more to get away from the hen and stag parties and enjoy first class cuisine. Definitely not yet another tapas bar!!

Best steak we have ever eaten ....

I booked this restaurant on line via their website prior to travelling to Barcelona. The service was impeccable and I would describe the fillet we were ordered the best steak we had ever eaten anywhere in the world. I highly recommend a visit you will not be disappointed !

Ate here on a special anniversary during a visit to Barcelona. Without them knowing anything about that, the Staff, front of house and the Chefs, made our meal a real occasion. The service is unhurried and smooth and, from the customer's viewpoint relaxed. We took our time over the menu and the staff were willing and indeed pleased to be answering questions. The same with the wine list. We had some bread and dips and sparkling water while that was going on. Starters were vegetables wrapped in beef and grilled mushrooms. mains were Tournodos Rossini and Fillet steak. The meat in both cases (Medium) was excellent and took no effort to cut and eat. Sides were chips and grilled vegetables (1 of each was enough) Sorbet and tart tatin for desserts. All of these dishes were well cooked, seasoned and presented. In addition, there was the same care taken over the wine a bottle of dry white and Malbec reserva. Overall an excellent meal and great wines to accompany. The attending service was unobtrusive but there. The Chef's role in all of this was much appreciated. Not cheap, but well worth every penny.

Tasty steak, anniversary dinner

Late review as we came last year in Feb. The restaurant was very busy and popular, staff friendly. Bread and dips to start was lovely, we were offered more complimentary bread if we wanted a top up. We both had steak, chips and peppercorn sauce which was truly lovely food. Ever so slightly too salty for us but it was cooked very well. Truffles for dessert were also very tasteful! We would recommend.

Fantastic Steak

Last minute decision to visit the restaurant and boy what a visit. The food and service was fantastic best steak i've tasted in a long while. The chorizo sausage for starter was delicious and the garlic oyster mushrooms was too. But the steak was the best part of the meal cooked to perfection. The service was brilliant and great advice from the waiter on the wine selection. Some people might say its pricey, but for a good cooked steak and nice food, its worth the value. Will definitely be visiting again when we return to Barcelona.

We visited this restaurant on a pre cruise stay in Barcelona and without doubt it was worth the effort of the short taxi ride from our hotel. The restaurant is supposedly one of the best in Barcelona and based on our experience I wouldn’t disagree. The service was attentive with everything on the menu explained in detail by our waiter however, when in an Argentinian steakhouse, there is only one choice and the Tenderloin Fillet did not disappoint, especially when complimented by a glass of Malbec. There is no doubt this restaurant is more expensive than many alternatives but, there are occasions when you need to treat yourself and if you are seeking a restaurant with great ambience and food to match, then this is a good choice.

Such a shame! They could be so, so good but I had a horrible experience. It started with bread rolls and dips and they told me that one of them had nuts in and I said I was really grateful they had told me as I have a nut allergy. Having established I am allergic to nuts the meal progressed. We had filet steak which came piled high with salt, I know steak should have salt but this was WAY too salty. I'd ordered pepper sauce and they forgot and I had to wait for it while my food went cold. Then, the worst thing happened. We ordered Tarta Tatin. It said NOTHING on the menu about it being served with nuts. We had told them I have a nut allergy (both in English and in Spanish - it's something I can sy clearly in a dozen languages). Fortunately my cousin started before me and noticed that there were walnuts HIDDEN underneath the ice-cream. I told the waitress I couldn't eat it because it had nuts in it and she did apologise (very half heartedly) and ask if I wanted a free drink (I'm not drinking alcohol at the moment). I pointed out that it is extremely dangerous to give someone something with hidden nuts in it, that is NOT listed on the menu as containing nuts and a dish that you would not expect to find nuts in. She really didn't seem to care at all. It wasn't taken off my bill. I had to leave quickly to go back to be near my epi-pen (which I'd foolishly left at the hotel) as I was anxious in case anything else had been contaminated with nuts. I was OK, but it made for a really stressful unpleasant evening. What really sucked was the attitude. They could easily have killed me, they didn't care. What we did have wasn't good either. Pity as it could easily be good.

Dear KSA-UK, First of all, our most sincere apologies for the incident you mention and to let you know that we take everything related to allergies and food intolerances very seriously. I won't go into detail about the food, as that's not what's important here, and there are already countless reviews about our food and service, so I'll skip this. We understand your discomfort and surely we would feel the same as you in your situation. As far as I can remember, it is the first time that we have had a problem with an issue as important as an allergy. We will have to see what has happened so that the established protocol was not followed as it should have been. We will also have to see what happened to the staff who served your table, so as not to have informed the person in charge of the service about your case, since everything would have been handled differently. We will definitely have to do a refresher course for all the staff, emphasizing the importance of allergies and their consequences, if the protocol is not followed properly. Once again, our most sincere apologies for what happened and we are glad to know that in the end, everything ended in just a scary moment. Best regards, Alfredo and the PBW Team

Civilized Atmosphere; Good Food

We were happy for a more civilized atmosphere (cleaner bathrooms ;)than we'd been experiencing. The empanada appetizers are very good, and the tapenades were really delicious . The waiting staff was very attentive, and the food was a reasonably good value. They got the temp (medium) right on the "butterflied" filet. The dessert "Patagonia" was uninspired. The prawns were pretty skimpy.

Disaster except the meat. The meat is exceptional!!!! The waiter was stressed out, we had THREE waiters to top-up our wine, to the point where we filled the glasses ourselves to the brim to keep staff away. The staff very stressed out, montoring the customer, felt like staff been bashed by manangrment to cram out every pesetas. We ordered a garnatxa wine, but got one without garnatxa at the double price (really clever). We also ordered the shallot sauce, which was -absolutely- tasteless, and should have come with the main cpurse (again clever). If we order here again, we ask for take away and only meat...

Dear Mr. Peter, First of all, thank you very much for taking your time to write this review of his second visit in 3 days. Unfortunately on your last visit, we had a couple of young waiters working but they were in training, and from your comment, it seems they still need to improve their communication skills with each other. On the other hand, you have to admit that this didn't happen a couple of days earlier on your first visit, nor did you find the staff stressed or pressured by the manager to get every "peseta" out of you. We do not understand that on your second visit, you ordered the same wine that we had already told you that was momentarily out of stock. So when we saw the wine that you had ordered the previous time, we asked if you wanted to have the same one, which was not 100% Grenache since it was a coupage wine, but it did contain a percentage of it. It was a wine known to you and you knew its price since you had paid for the same a couple of days before. Regarding the sauces, let me tell you that with all the main dishes we serve two typical Argentine sauces, the "Salsa Criolla" and the famous "Chimichurri" and both are free of charge, but there are also other options of sauces on the menu and all are priced marked, so I don't understand your confusion at something so simple. We are glad that you liked our meats, and we are sure that if you give us another chance, everything will be as it was on your first visit, which in the end was what made you come back. Excellent food and service - really worth a visit!

We visited following a relatives recommendation who dined here a few years ago. We booked for my eldest son’s 21st Birthday dinner, we were a group of 5. From arrival we were treated to great service by the staff and the food served was of an excellent standard. We had a variety of starters / tapas with breads. The mixed empanadas were lovely with light pastry along with the Argentinian sausage and black pudding which was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. We then all had steaks of various types along with French fries green peppercorn sauce or morel sauce, again the quality of the steaks were of high quality and perfectly cooked. We then had deserts including crepes, apple tart and a vanilla and raspberry tart all of which were very tasty as it was my sons birthday his dessert was presented with aplomb and complimentary glasses of cava on the house. During the meal we enjoyed Argentinian lager, red and white wine of which there was an extensive and reasonably priced selection. All in all a great dining experience and we hope to return to dine here again in the future.

Great food, service is a disaster

We had made a reservation for seven two days ahead by phone, but it was not honored at first. Only after showing the phone call on my mobile we were given a table. The food was excellent throughout at fair prices. But the service was simply horrible. We were coerced to finish the starter menu by the male waiter. One of the guests we invited was still finishing her starter plate, while the waiter kept standing beside her with the main dish plate and tried to take away her unfinished plate. She refused and the main dish had to be taken back by the waiter. Our guests (native Spanish speakers) went to the restaurant manager to tell him to exchange the waiter. How embarrassing for us as the ones inviting. We had a three course dinner and at the end we were forced to leave the restaurant at 5 to midnight because they wanted to close. I have been guest in many restaurants around the world, but this experience was one of the worst ever. The service unfortunately is by far not matching the excellent food quality. Food is 5 stars, but service in our case 1 star. What a waste of quality.

Dear Mr. Christopher S. First of all, we thank you for taking the time to write your review and we are very sorry that the service has not lived up to your expectations. Certainly we will have to see what has happened, since the vast majority of reviews praise our service, as you can read in any of the many reviews that our clients have left us recently. But to respond to your particular review, and sorry it's a bit long, let me remind you that within 5 minutes of your arrival, your table was ready. In relation to the rush in the service, I remind you that if at the time of ordering your dishes, you "do not inform" your waiter that you are going to take longer than usual to eat the starters, the service will be based on the ordered dishes. Your table ordered 2 "Samplings" of typical Argentine starters for 2 people each to share among 7 adult people, so the kitchen calculates a reasonable time to prepare your second course and that the meat reaches the table at the cooking point of your liking . What should have taken 20 minutes (30 being very generous) took an hour to your table... you will understand that meat is not a dish that can be regenerated in an oven or microwave, it has to go directly from the grill to the table and if you take longer than usual with the starters, then the meat will not be at your desired cooking point and you will complain for this reason. Let me tell you that your guest must have been more considerate of the other diners, since you all must have waited for more than 20 minutes with your cutlery resting on your empty plates, while she continued talking without touching her food, but there comes a time when we can't wait any longer so that the meat doesn't go past its cooking point At the time we let you know about this, everyone understood except that person. Regarding the closing time, we do not close when we want, like every business we have a closing time. We are glad to know that at least all the food has been to your liking and we are sorry that for something as simple as not having taken your entrees in due time, you have the perception that we have rushed you, although we believe that from 8:30 p.m. that you arrived, until 5 minutes before midnight when you left, (it's about 3 and a half hours at the table...) you cannot say that we have rushed you to leave the table... Once again, please accept our sincere apologies and the next time you wish to have a more relaxed meal, please tell your waiter about this when ordering, not when the main courses arrive. The waiter will appreciate it, the cook will appreciate it and you will be able to enjoy the food at your own pace. Alfredo and the PBW Team

Very good Steak with good pricing

I got the ribeye with vegetables and I can say it was amazing! The reservation went pretty easy, when we arrived they immediately took us to our table where the waiter was expecting us. The pricing was good for the good quality of food you get there. The Service was very fast even though it was busy and the food was simply mind blowing how good it tastet. For every Meat lover this restaurant is a big recommendation.

Reasonable Price top quality fillet steak and chunky chips, cooked to perfection. Really nice bottle of wine too. Friendly attentive waiters. One to remember when we return to the brilliant Barca.

Cheap inside looking restaurant

We were at this restaurant and supposed that it will be expensive and good service restaurant. Inside we saw buffet and it was shocking for us. Buffet wasn’t good(( regarding the meat nothing special and I like other restaurants in Barcelona for meat. We tried ribeye for 2 special edition and it was only fat inside.

A welcome return to one of my Barcelona favourites

Because of Covid, it has been a couple of years since I have been to Patagonia Beef & Wine. It has been one of my favourite Barcelona dining destinations for at least 5 years. My visit, this time was as 2 adults and 2 children, it was not a disappointment. The staff were fantastic, welcoming and attentive. Especially with the children. 3 courses for 4, excluding wine came to €40 per head. And, as before, the quality of the food is certainly worth it. My memories were completely fulfilled! As before, I can totally recommend the Morcilla blood sausages for starter. And the steaks are to die for. The wine list is also excellent. Although my partner was disappointed that they no longer have the selection of 4 mini deserts!! That said, the existing options that we had were also delicious. Thank you so much Patagonia, for making it through the traumas of the last 18 months, and I wish you all the success, such that you are still here on my next visit to Barcelona.
