We ended up by chance to the restaurant and we had a lunch treat. We thought it is going to be a neighbourhood restaurant and we ended up to say it is one of the best meals in Barcelona. Fresh fish, original italian ingredients and recipes and nice and friendly staff.

We visited the restaurant on Saturday night after reading some amazing reviews online. Barcelona is now bursting at the seams with tourists and what used to be the greatest city for food is now being colonised by tourist traps and pretentious new restaurants. Xemei is a true gem of a place- the location away from the hustle and bustle, the... More

We were walking back from Monjuic and came through Poble Sec a neighbourhood in the Sants Monjuic district of Barcelona. The restaurant on Sunday was full but they managed to squeeze us in for Sunday lunch. The waiter was really helpful and it looked pretty much like many locals ate here often. The servings are big as we were advised... More

although the terrace was fully booked we got table near an open window next to the street. this is not your typical italian eatery..it has new (to me at least) creative fare, served well on the plate with nice flavours and combinations. portions are not huge but correct. good choice of interesting wines. service was quite quick--correct, as this is... The small restaurant is located on a small street, not a lot of traffic perfect to enjoy a nice dinner outside. The staff is very lovely and will make your stay just perfect, they'll arrange anything somehow possible (like a mixed starter plate instead of one single starter for every single person) the menu is small, but everything on the... We had the buratta and tomato starter which was a bit of buratta heaven, followed by asparagus risotto. For us the meal was delish! Our house rose had strong floral notes but was still crisp and refreshing. Part of our joy was finding a good place in a day of closed restaurants. Check out the chefs' cookbook!

Excellent Italian restaurant in Barcelona. The burrata was generous and delicious. I also recommend ordering the gnocchi, octopus with aubergine and the seafood spaghetti. Also, for scallop fans, you must try their oven baked starter. Very relaxed vibe. When the weather is great, definitely sit outdoors. It's a quiet and intimate area.

Very good restaurant. We had a very good time and the risotto was one the best I've ever had. You can go eat over there before or after visiting the Font màgica de Montjuïc. It goes together!

I'm new to the area and still sussing out good places to eat & drink. So, it was a lovely sunny day. I was out for a wander at around lunch time and I spotted a nice looking restaurant. I sat outside in the sun.... ...sadly, thats where the good bit ends. A lone female, vegetarian, I might be, but... More

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
