The food was excellent. An amazing quality-cost ratio. You absolutely need to make a reservation in this place.

A group of 11 of us were seated in a private room with only 3/4 other tables. Beautiful setting, very rustic and authentic Spanish. The service was excellent, the waiter recommended dishes and wine, which were great choices! We had a variety of meat and fish dishes, everybody was extremely happy with the quality and flavours. We had 5/6 bottles... More
In spite of the reviews, I expected this to be a good place, but not as extraordinary as it is. We decided to share some dishes, as the mains were a bit too heavy for dinner: cheese from the country, tuna tataki and anchovies. I'm still trying to assimilate the quality of everything. I'm impressed. It's one of the best... More
Having visited in November 2016 with friends my wife and I decided to go again on our own in Jan 2017. Both times we were over the moon with the food and the attentive service we received.
I picked this because of TripAdviser reviews and because it seemed out of the usual tourist areas. On a Sunday around 2pm we squeezed into a spot at the bar, had some wine (ate a free tapas - arroz) and ordered some good food - stuffed piquillo peppers, cecina (amazing) and 8 of the best anchovies we have ever had... We booked in order to celebrate a birthday meal and we're not disappointed in any way. The service is attentive without it being smothering. Food comes out quickly without the feeling that you are being rushed. We ordered tuna as a starter to share and merluza and carrilleras as mains to split also. The food was absolutely delicious and was... More
Always visit Riojano at least twice when in Santander . Excellent tapas and excellent fish in restaurant . The staff have been there a long time and nice they recognise you with a nice greeting and without smothering you with conversation.
Visited here with my husband. An extremely popular restaurant. The food is very good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered a bottle of wine which had still not arrived after our starter was served. At that point we opted for glasses of wine instead. The food arrives very quickly, to the point you feel they... A Santander institution but still very reasonably priced Set up like a wine cellar with real character The food and wine are excellent and the staff could not be more helpful Best to book unless you like to eat early
This lovey place was recommended to us and I am so glad we booked! After a week of lovey food in the Basque Country, we had high expectations and this place topped the lot! From the welcoming atmosphere and cosy surroundings to the all important food everything was perfect! I had pig cheeks which were the tastiest dish of my... More
