We called there for lunch today. Good choice of Vegan/vegetarian food.
We ordered two simple drinks: Sangria & a local larger and two sandwiches, which were not too complicated. After nearly 45 minutes the drinks arrived. The waitress was pleasant & kept apologising for the delay. It was then a further 15 minutes that I spoke to the owner/manager to ask why the delay with the food & drink. She said some of the Bowls take a long time to prepare (ours were not bowls). At the time of ordering there was no mention of any delay relating to particular meal types. No reason given to the length of time to open a bottle & the preparation of putting together the sangria ...45 minutes! In addition,she made no real apology overall.
There were two other couples there that also were waiting a long time for what looked like un-complicated
Food.
Good advice if you go there: make your choice & ask for a time estimate.

Hi, did esplain to you that tho urs were sandwiches we had quite a few tables inside with bowls which take time n we go in order of tables(also mentioned). Sangria is not just opening a bottle- the lager could have been served but we obvioulsy serve both the drinks at the same time unless asked for otherwise.
Sorry for the delay, yes we should actually tell clients that lunch is on n even tho uve ordered sandwich n toast it will follow the order. The manager did explain this when she mentioned bowls- it was about other tables who were all having proper lunch meals. We did have 6 tables inside eating proper lunches and 2 or 3 tables on ur side of terrace btw.

Delicious vegan food. The beyond meat burger was great, but portions were kind of small. Of course the size of a burger is the same everywhere, but for 12€ it does not hurt to add 25 wedges instead of 10. The extra cost probably does not hurt overall margins, but guests are full and 100% happy after their meal. :)

Hola Stefan, thanks for the review. We will look into increasing the number of wedges by say 5 more. Even at 10 sometimes clients leave few so its a general policy to avoid wastage. Glad you enjoyed ur meal and hope to have you back soon too.

We have visited Roots at least eight times during the last two annual visits to Tenerife. The food has always been acceptable and any preparation time has been reasonable due to being freshly prepared.
However, the behaviour of the owner has become very unprofessional. She has acquired a puppy, which she allows to roam the restaurant trying to bite ankles and pull shoe laces of customers. She was made aware of our displeasure but made little effort to control it.
Our visit was made so uncomfortable, that today was our last visit.

Helloo, sorry about our adorable little pup, has been a gift and we still training him and do make it a point to stop him unless the clients( most of them) who are pet friendly want to play with him.
He is just 2.5 mths old n will take sometime to learn. We have made his play n sleep area downstairs away from the restaurant area but yes we do bring him up on n off n i guess most pet owners know how that is. He is not allowed into the kitchen area at all.
Hopefully when you visit Tenerife next he will be older and behaves well to suit you if he is around.
Sorry once again if you were not comfortable, do not in any way encourage him to bite ankles n pull shoe laces 😬

We popped in for a quick lunch as we were famished. The vegan options looked appealing. We ordered a smoothie and a lemonade, neither of which were particularly good.
We also ordered a couple of buddha bowls, which after an hour of waiting still didn’t come, so we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The waitress added the price of the bowls to our bill at first and we had to ask them to subtract those which we never had.

Hello,
It was a very busy morning n yes we shd then have mentioned will take long for the bowls- the buddha bowls are ellaborate and dont make a quick meal. We are not a fast food place.
The waitress stalled when you came in to pay already!as she was confused - we then told you the bowls were almost ready which you refused to wait for n she charged the drinks- was nothing intentional obviously.
Told you its ok to just pay the drinks-and luckily had people waiting who relished the said bowls😬hopefully you come some other time n have some time on ur hands if you want to eat buddha bowls.

4 of us had breakfast here this morning. All of us left with such a disappointment. And here are the main factors why:
Non of the ordered food tasted good
Wait was really long, even it was 4 ladies behind the counter and around 4-5 taken tables taken
And finally-it’s very important to feel that price paid is fair considering food quality, taste, atmosphere and what you would pay in other places in the area. So all in all we felt that overpaid. We all agreed that won’t give this place the second chance.

We went for breakfast here and it was a disaster from start to finish. We waited 50 minutes for a sandwich and salad only to be given the wrong salad. The portions are very small and and the food is really expensive for what you get. We didn’t even bother trying to change the salad because we didn’t have another hour to wait for a new one.

Hola very sorry about that- these days have been very hectic and we should not have accepted making salads at breakfast.
Sorry once again n we will make it a point to tell the client it will take long when there are more tables before the turn comes. Dont agree about the portions though

Visited twice during our week in Puerta de la Cruz and both times the food was excellent and service great. The Buddha bowls were freshly prepared which took a little time but worth the wait. Delicious, fresh food with wonderful flavour combinations. On our second visit we had the vegan raspberry and chocolate mousse - one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful, happy to make recommendations. One of which was the a lemonade with ginger and mint, not too sweet and very refreshing.

We had Buddha Bowls, a very varied and well presented mix of vegetables, hummus, etc -- all delicious and good value. But they took about 45 minutes to prepare, which would be frustrating if you were in a hurry. More like a cafe than a restaurant.

One of my worst experiences. Long time to wait; the dinner was ridiculous: small like a childrenplate - half portion than the photo on the card and bad taste. Ok, after speaking long with the REALLY NICE WAITRESS i got some more salad. Told her to search a new job, in this restaurant every waiter will be confronted with the anger of guests, but its not their responsibility. 70% of the card is not available.

70 percent not available? The nice waitress did explain to you the menu was limited for the few days of festivos. Portion was not small n she to pacify a difficult complaining client( thats what she said, and so added more salad n like the next tables pacified her to ignore such clients so she humoured you😬
Btw, rarely has she seen such a client so rest assured she is fine. Strangely ur companion was really fine with her meal rite

We found this place through Trip Advisor and went there for breakfast. While some of the earlier reviews complain about the service, we were very happy. However, we would like to say it isn't a place for you if you are looking for fast food and fast service - Roots is a healthy place where the owners take care over their freshly made food. They have a great range of vegan options, including cakes.

We came in for a lunch and ordered two buddha bowls. We waited for them over an hour which was quite frustrating. I understand that it's made from scratch but I hope customers would be informed that it can take a very long time. In other restaurants half an hour is a maximum wate for any kind of food so no one would expect this to take so long and we wouldn't have ordered if we knew this. The food itself was okay.

Went here for a smoothie-bowl, but they could not serve. Ordered a simple wrap instead, waited 55minutes for the food…. Extremely slow, easy job with just chopping the salad and open the box of tuna.. All other restaurants has been superior, but this one is totally crap. No other people or que either…
I added some info on the label which makes sense!

Don’t be fooled by nice photos. I’ve ordered poached egg on a slice of bread. Waited 45 minutes, egg came undercooked and bread must have been made some time ago. Staff offered to cook it more which I declined. Unfortunately so was my request for refund. Not worth the time.

Had vegan lunch there today. Both of us had the vegan Beyond Burger. OMG, it was amazing!
The staff was very friendly. We had a chat with them while ordering and afterwards about the food. It is clear that they take great pride - rightfully so - in how they prepare the food. They try to make it not only tasty, but also healthy and they explained this in detail for each part of the burger. Really nice people. Will definitely go there again.
Vegetarian options: Not just vegetarian but also great vegan options!

I do not recommend it, the service is VERY SLOW, we have come a couple of times to give it another chance and it is exasperating how SLOW it is to serve a coffee and an infusion... Either they get their act together or it sinks like the Titanic or whatever is usually the case. say it has the stern for seafood.
