Don’t be put off by the bland decor, the food and atmosphere provide an entirely different sensory experience. The staff are jovial and speak their best English to you and the food is unique and delicious. I never thought I’d want to rave about a salad but their house salad is so incredible we got one to take away! This restaurant does wonders with nuts and fruit. The starters (which comprised our whole meal) are nothing like your usual tapas. Bear in mind, the place gets very busy from 9.30 and they start turning people away.

Our second visit to this restaurant and it was just as good as the first time. The staff are friendly, the service is fast and it’s very good value. We had beef medallions with a mushroom cream sauce and the pork with an apple and a red wine sauce and both were delicious! Save some room for desserts as they are so tasty. It’s our favourite restaurant on the Island so we will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The staff were very welcoming and made excellent suggestions for our lunch: we enjoyed all the dishes we chose- baked goat cheese, carpaccio & parillada mixta. The quality was excellent and everything was home-made and delicious.
Unusually we had pudding and it too was a great choice- polvo uruguayo

Totally recommended, service, quality and place a 10.
The waitresses know perfectly well what it means to work as a team, very well organized, very friendly, the place is not overwhelming, the food is served in a timely manner and the quality of the dishes is spectacular, the cook is a professional and the food has a Personal touch is noticeable on the palate.
The menu is quite varied with the chef's personal touch and leaves you with the idea of coming back to try something different.
The desserts are homemade and fresh on the day.
We will return for sure.

Looking for some lunch, we were lucky to find this excellent restaurant and a superb meal. Unusually all our choices were fried (don’t often eat much fried food) and NOTHING was greasy. The aubergine and cheese dish was so so good - highly recommended. It all was. Believe the reviews 😋

You can't go without a reservation because they only serve one lunch shift or at least that's what the person who served me told me. It looks good, it's a shame we couldn't taste their food,

Our visit to this wonderful island of El Hierro could not end in a better way than by having lunch in this special place in the center of the capital. The mix of flavors where the Herreño cheese takes center stage, garnished with a wonderful local wine and an outstanding dessert, all accompanied by the kindness of the service made this farewell somewhat more bearable. My husband and I had an excellent lunch at La Tafeña. We ordered a number of dishes and were very impressed by the freshness and the delicious taste of each one. While traditional, the dishes had an updated flare in the presentation with special touches and added flavor accents. The very friendly and enthusiastic service added to the lovely ambience. Highly recommended!

This restaurant was a true culinary experience on the island of El Hierro, if at any time you find yourself visiting or passing through the town of Villa de Valverde and are looking for food prepared with culinary excellence and unforgettable flavors, La Tafeña should be in your plans and on your travel route. The service was excellent, the food exquisite and the prices reasonable. When I return to the island, I will definitely stop there for lunch with the family!

Very attentive and professional service. The restaurant is very clean and well-kept. The food with quality and tasty vegetarian options. We ordered the cream of the day which was spinach, the salad with passion fruit vinaigrette, chickpeas and eggplant parmigiana. The dessert also surprised us and we really liked it, a panacotta with pineapple jam and passion fruit. Highly recommended and if we have the opportunity we will return.

We recommend booking. The place is full and all the tables have reservations. Pleasant atmosphere with music that does not interfere with talking. It is the first time we visited and the food was very tasty. We had eggplant with Herreño cheese, scrambled eggs and pork tenderloin with pears and walnuts. For dessert, panna cotta with pineapple and forest fruits. Drinking fruity house wine. All very delicious and, for sure, we will repeat.

Simple and cozy Villa de Valverde restaurant. Attentive, friendly and professional staff who make you feel at home.
The food, with innovative touches within the island's gastronomic tradition, is abundant and tasty.
