Our second visit to this delightful harbouside restaurant, albeit five years apart, and it more than lived up to our memories. We ate from the menu del dia this time, so interestingly different from its many neighbours the other side of the bridge. Tuna carpaccio with guacamole and melon cream with Iberico ham to start. The latter a take on... More

As foodie travellers we wanted to experience the local dishes of Menorca and this restaurant was recommended to us. Great location and has alfresco dinning at the waterfront. Lovely atmosphere, outstanding tasty meals and good quality wines. Service staff were warm and attentive. The restaurant itself was immaculate We enjoyed "Menorca’s famous Lobster Stew Caldereta de Langosta” a truly scrumptious... More

Ciutadella's tiny harbour is one of the prettiest places to have dinner in the Mediterranean. Cafe Balear was recommended to us by the owner of our hotel, and we were not disappointed. We had the langoustines which were delicious.

Lovely location right by the water but a little apart from the other harbourside eateries. Extremely welcoming and helpful staff, absolutely delicious seafood - they have their own boat catching their own fish etc. The menu del dia was a steal at €18.50. Huge wine list. We got there shortly after it opened for lunch at 1pm and by 2pm... More

The food was truly beautiful - we shared a tomato and ventresca salad and a seafood parrillada and both were perfect. It is pricey but truly top-notch. Best prawns I have ever had in my life!

This is a real find. Ciutadella has a limited number of great restaurants. This is one. Wild fish grilled to perfection, potatos and veggies just right. Service a bit slow but the food is worth the wait. Great prices. About 30Euros per person. These people own two more in town. Cafe balear and a slow food restaurant. The best in... More

Although the a la carte menu is pricey the set 3 course lunch is not. Every dish was outstanding and really good value for the high quality. If you need a place for lunch in Ciutadella, head for this cafe by the harbour. Excellent service as well.

Good restaurant. Fish dishes, but you can find meat as well. We eat octopuss and seashells, excellents. Rice as main course, very good. But they offer lobster as one of the most famous dishes, as "caldereta" or rice with lobster, but the price is very high. Desserts was notable too.

We had dinner here whilst staying in Ciutadella. Superb food and can't wait to return. I had the Escalivada followed by the John Dory. Good service.

We ate several different fish dishes here in its pretty location by the port. The razor clams were so fresh, the prawns were the best we had in a long time and the sea nettle was unusual and full of flavours of the sea. Catered for the kids brilliantly and the waiters are very friendly. Awesome albariño too!

It was opened in the 70s, as a tavern in the harbour that welcomed seafarers in the early hours of the morning before they went to work. Over 40 years, the family business gains the confidence of its customers and became the meeting place for many, where they could enjoy all kinds of tapas and freshly caught seafood. At the present time Cafè Balear is a highly-regarded Menorcan restaurant and a must visit in the Port of Ciutadella. Here you will find a lively welcoming atmosphere, where you can enjoy dishes based on fish and seafood, freshly caught by our own boat, the Rosa Santa Primera.
