We had a wonderful experience at Etxanobe on Friday lunchtime. From being welcomed by the team, it's immediately obvious that you are in the hands of real professionals who hold their commitment to the customer in the highest regard. We opted for the Chef's Tasting...More

Ok good but even though I had 2 starters and had plenty the main course for a man was in the small side to say the least! If you order the ribs you get a huge plate with 2 ribs on and that's it! You...More

We had a lovely dinner here with friends. The food is classic rather than adventurous but well presented. There was plenty of truffle on the menu for one fan. There was a slight hitch with my main course but the staff quickly replaced the dish....More

This lovely restaurant was only a short walk from our NH hotel. We had the pleasure of meeting chef Fernando, who is very talented. We sat outside, with heat lamps and wind breaks, so were very comfortable. We opted for the 16 "course" tasting menu...More

Thumbs up to this little Michelin Star restaurant. Old world charm, with modern flavours. The sardine lasagne (pictured) was one of our favourites. We chose the chef's menu with accompanying wines. A lovely experience with generous servings of both.

Fabulous chef tasting menu. Great views of city especially for fireworks during the aste nagusia. Wine pairing matched food very well. Waiter will sense if you are not 100% satisfied with any food serving and will quickly bring another item. I thought cost very reasonable...More

It's Spain, you can take your kids anywhere. They love kids in Spain, especially babies. Although it might be good to give them a heads up.

Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. Etxanobe is one of the hottest dining spots in the world right now, drawing breathless reviews from food-writers and food-lovers for the grand cuisine of chef/owner Fernando Canales. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Light pours in everywhere. Innovation is on display in every mouthful that emerges from Canales kitchen. Theres no menu of the day; you choose a la carte or a series of tasters. Dishes change monthly and may include deceptively simple descriptions like starter of lasagne of anchovies, main course of sole with pil-pil sauce and trout eggs, and home made dessert of cinnamon and rice puff-pastry with milk, though youd be mad to miss the little chocolate bombs. The wines are excellent and the service is a mission unto itself in a word, sublime.
