Been to Casa Puga seveal times now. They have a bar a restaurant. Stay at the bar. It gets busy but the atmosphere is great. You can get the same food at the bar as in the restaurant. The tapas are amazing. My tip is to go for the fried prawns, they do them in a saffron infused batter. Amazing!

Stay by the bar rather than taking a seat and engulf yourself in the experience. Be prepared to shout and gesture for service but be rewarded by excellent tapas at a good price. Must-do evening in Almeria

Top of Tripadvisor so tried it. Three places you can eat, bar, smaller tables and square tables. The square tables seemed to be reserved for tourists. Here you are not allowed to order from the cheaper tapas menu, but a more expensive alternative one. 5 tapas and bottle of wine = €70. Service was poor, food arrived frisbee style to... More

Open since 1870, Casa Puga is a wonderful, spanish experience. Do not go there if you want English food but if you go to Spain to try the tapas this is the place to go. Always busy with crowds of ladies calls outside but you can normally get a seat inside. The restaurant is at the back with the authentic... More

Only so so,been in loads of tapas bars in Almeria over the years, this is only standard now,not very friendly service either, don't get me wrong it's still alright, but others are now better, and better value as well,go once then you can say I've been in what is supposedly the oldest tapas place in town, but I don't think you'll see the need to... I visited Casa Puga with my two adult children in mid-February. We were advised to arrive early, which proved to be an advantage because within 20 minutes of 8pm the restaurant had no remaining seating. The interior of this traditional Spanish restaurant is split by a well stocked bar. There is standing room and a few bar stools to enjoy... More

Our tapas were very good, but the staff does not cater to tourists. All locals in this spot and little tolerance for tourists. Small dining room in back for dinner menu only, tapas only available in front bar area. We were in town for 1 month and did not return. Other restaurants much friendlier.

We raved about Casa Puga to friends staying with us and were therefore embarrassed by our experience at lunchtime the other day. The waiter was not at all interested in helping us to enjoy our lunch, he was impatient (maybe he doesn't like English people) and couldn't even give us one smile. The food was, at best, mediocre and not... More

A small area at the tiled back for the sit down restaurant with one waiter rushing around like a madman. I only had tapas. Games rosado a la plancha E12 and grilled squid and octopus. Great atmosphere. The long tapas bar was packed by 21.00. Highly recommended.

Eaten here a couple of times. Great traditional tapas bar, very atmospheric. Got to have plate of Jamon Iberico and Padron peppers. Very nice wine and service efficient. Good I trip to Spanish tapas.
