Ah, having heard people rave about Manima, I was glad to have finally made it here. I was sadly disappointed. The waiter wasn't able to give a proper recommendation about the dishes or their authenticity. We had the red curry and the yellow curry; both...of them strictly average. Barely any vegetables and there was the final oomph missing! To me, It was more thai-mass-produced. The service wasn't particularly attentive either and there were large gaps between anyone attending at all. Possibly we had the wrong dishes, but considering the high quality of Asian cuisine in Düsseldorf, I wont be visiting Manima anytime soon. Pity, seems like they are resting on their laurels.More
When coming in, we always get welcomed very kindly. Most dishes we had in Manima were very good. We specially like the papaya salad, the Larb and the Gaeng Ped. You can order everything in four different hotness level. The hottest one is not to...f* around with, and this they will also tell you. Wine selection is decent, the cocktails are good.More
i´ve never been to laos before, but after a busy day at the DRUPA, some friends invited me for dinner at MANIMA. - restaurant was full, but luckily we had a reservation. fresh spring rolls as starter (delicous) and a spicy duck curry as main....- food is fresh and the service fast. i totally recommend this place.More
We went there with high expectations mostly because of the good ratings online and the prices that seems to promise a good quality meal. The restaurant don't offer English menu, which made it hard for us to choose the meal. The prices don't match with...the quantity and quality of the food. The portion of rise x person is really small, and we had to order 2 additional bowls of rise (quite small as well). The food was tasty, but nothing special. Overall some of the curry we ordered was quite liquid, with really few amount of meat/tofu and it felt that some of the vegetables were coming from frozen package. The drinks were really good, I definitely recommend them, but in overall a bit overrated.More
We were here a Friday evening. The restaurant is good reachable by public transportation; tram stop is just in front of the door! Cocktails were great, food ok, but honestly I had much more tastefully Asian food somewhere else in Düsseldorf. Prices are pretty high...compared with the portions! I would not come again.More
A large menu with a broad variety, but not very authentic cuisine as coconut-milk is overdosed in some dishes. All curry sauces are quite heavy. The quality of ingredients is good and very fresh. Positive: you can select the degree of spiciness for each dish....The waiter serving us at the desk was quite friendly, wheres the restaurant manager at the entrance was quite cool and distant. Interesting cocktail menu.More
Manima is a very good address to eat Laotian food. They have a lot of option - vegetarian and non vegetarians will definitely find something that will please them. Because we read on Tripadvisor that the spring rolls were very good we ordered them as...a starter. We ordered the vegetarian Jor and the Jor Kau with vegetables. The simple Jor were tasty, but I can't understand the hype. It were just good spring rolls. The Jor Kau weren't my thing but my friend liked them more then the simple Jor so I guess it is a question of taste. As a main dish we had Geang Curry Leang and Pa Naeng, both curry's with rice as a side dish. Both dishes were very good and we can only recommend them. For drinks we had Mango- and Maracuja-Mintschorle, which were very refreshing. We also ordered some Cocktails, which were also nice. The service was the only reason why I only give 4 points. The waiters were very stressed and not really attentive. For 15min we tried to catch the waiters attention to ask for more rice but it was almost as if he was ignoring us. The issue with the rice was another reason for only 4 points. It was really not much rice for two persons so we asked for more rice. We are used to it that if we ask for more rice/bread or so, it isn't billed as a courtesy of the restaurant. Not at Manima. Here you have to pay for it. For me this kind of behaviour isn't really customer-friendly. But all in all it's a nice place to eat. I recommend to make a reservation.More
We found this restaurant not far away from our Hotel. Here we found the combination of a vegan and spicy. Every curry is available in vegan and in four different severity levels. My wife and I went „very spicy“ which is seldom to get in...Germany. So good choice to get healthy and spice food.More
attentive and friendly staff, tasty food. and very very good cocktails, try the stawberry diaquiri or bombay crush, you'll want another for sure.
they have good food, nice service and they also have that offer when you eat there every time they give you points card and you collect those cards and after 10 times you get a free meal
Having a lao wife, we have eaten at countless thai and lao restaurants all over Europe. This is definately the best place I've been to. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was uber-friendly. Recommended!
Good spicy food that may be not as original, but for Germany this place is a Coke in the desert. When they say spicy, thy really mean it.
I have to get the Laab every time, with the sausage as an appetizer. I also enjoy working my way down through the cocktail menu...
Finally a good Laotien which tastes not like main stream asian food! Service is super friendly and the place is nicely arranged.
