Walked around and wasn't even sure if that place was open as it was Monday 6pm, we were asked if we wanted to sit first floor or wine cellar, we wanted to go downstairs. Portions are big, beer is cold, smoked salmon was 4/5 and was 16 euro, but everything else we liked a lot, a little overpriced, but that's... More

Visited the Brungs while at the Cologne Christmas Market. We only stayed in Cologne for three days but we made sure to visit to Brungs for two meals. The restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas. Wonderful ambience and the restaurant is situated in a very old vintage building that has been refurbished. Food was really great, as was the kolsch.... More

A relly nice location, quite friendly and really comfortable. The service is friendly and helpful and they will always recomend a nice wine for your dinner. We had some Flammkuchen and evrything was perfect: the food was so fresh and so tasty. I'm looking forwar for warmer days to enjoy in the Biergarten!

Definitely worthwhile a visit. The staff was extremely friendly, the food very good. The wine list somewhat limited for my taste. Affordable and authentic. If around recommendable.

We visited here based on a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Beautifully decorated with a great atmosphere and waiters that knew everything about each wine/meal. Definitely worth a visit. Ps. Don't get a starter, the meals are huge!

We visited this place with my wife and three kids. We had made a reservation which prove to be a good idea as the place was quickly full. The staff was very polite and helpful. Serving was really quick, which is very important when it comes to anxious children. The portions were more than adequate but also very tasty. The... More

The food here was excellent, as was the service. We came on the recommendation of our hotel, the Excelsior, and were not disappointed. It is very busy so I would recommend booking. We ate on the balcony level which was a lovely experience. As well as the food being excellent the waiter was attentive and knowledgeable in his recommendation of... More

We visited here as a family of 7 during the busiest Saturday of the Christmas markets. Our crossing from England was delayed and we had to move the booking back a couple of times. Considering the day, and how busy Cologne was, we thought there might be problems, but it was fine.. The interior is really authentic and our upstairs... More

We only stayed in Cologne for a few days but we made sure to return to Brungs on more than one occasion. Wonderful ambience - the restaurant is situated in a vintage building that has been refurbished in order to match its original style as closely as possible. Write-ups in the menu provide some insight into the history of the... More

Description
The Weinhaus Brungs has a palpable sense of history. The vaulted basement has remains of the Roman town wall. There are sculptured figures of the pope and emperor in alcoves watching over the locals and tourists as they dine. The home cooking goes down well with a glass Kölsch or any glass of good quality wine. The staff are attentive serving a middle-class clientele who enjoy the delicious food. The restaurant is accommodated in an historic merchant's house which provides a cosy setting with antiques, pointed arches and wood panelling.
