Got to the restaurant, ordered out meals, was met by a single unfriendly servant. It took a while for us to decide what we wanted to eat and drink. The servant was unpatient, and wanted us to get moving. Great food by the way... After the meals, we asked for the bill, but here we were Met by the same... More

It's a very dangerous place for your money. If you have something interesting and expensive, you leave it here. In my case waiter Djeraldo see the device, take it in the pocket, as a joke, ten minute later roman man with a white paper near table. Djeraldo cry him and you see on Djeraldo. Device go away with running man.... More

Surprised to see that this place has scored so low with some visitors. My friend and I enjoyed a great evening under the umbrellas of the Hackescher Markt branch. The area is admittedly touristy but has bags of character and a wonderful relaxed feel. Excellent, cheerful service and the best pizza we had during our stay in Berlin (and as... More

Quite possibly the worst restaurant I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. I've lived in Berlin for over twenty years and this was by far my most unpleasurable dining experience. The waiter was rude, unfriendly, and incompetent. The food was bland and boring. My sister ordered pizza but the waiter brought her spaghetti with garlic and chilli!!!! Telling her it... More

Food and staff nondescript. Bland, bland, bland. I produce tastier pasta at home and I`m English! They are simply relying on the passing tourists who will not return. Like us!

Based on other reviews i was quite hesitant (but we were already in the restaurant) but experienced no problems! The waitress was fairly distant but pleasant, the food was nice and although a bit touristy it was pretty nice place!

I happened upon this restaurant a few weeks ago. Was wandering around the area looking for a good place to eat. Asked a local shopkeeper and she recommended Ossena. I was hesitant to go since it looked 'flashy' in a touristy kind of way, but glad she recommended it! Popped in for lunch, service was quick and courteaous. Tried the... More

This is a restaurant that thrives on one time visits. With so many good places to eat in Berlin, don't contribute to the false credibility of this place. Located on a main corner of a popular higher end shopping area, it is listed in tour books such as Fodors. While it might look like locals in the place, it is... More

Having noticed that half the neighbourhood was queuing up to dine at Ossena we felt lucky to get a table. We got a nice welcome from the Maitre d and it all went downhill from there. It was obvious that tourists were simply people to be fleeced. Having eaten our pretty average food, upon paying the bill (we paid the... More

After a busy day at the exhibition we were looking forward to a relaxing meal and chose Ossena in the famous market area. Oscena - the Italian for obscene - would have been a better name! Slow service, indifferent food and a waiter who liked to throw things around don't make for a good time. Everyone in the place was... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
