Went here mainly because the area around our hotel in Spittelmarkt is quite souless. Prenzlauer has classic early 20th century buildings and Anna Blumes's establishment has plenty of charm. Being well known locally & on Trip Advisor means it's very busy. We sat outside in the rain but under cover. Breakfast was good not great and service friendly. Good to... More

This place is imbued with a sense of history, it feels like a Viennese coffee house in the heart of Berlin. I first visited around 10 years ago and the memory stayed with me. It was packed when we went on a Saturday afternoon for some Kaffee and Kuchen. Delicious all round. Want to know why it's a 4* and... More

Cafe Anna Blume is just great. I go there every time I visit Berlin. The reason is their fantastically rich breakfast, simply the best in Berlin. The only difficulty is the popularity of Anna Blume: it can be difficult to get a table.

We read about this beforehand and it sounded great so headed off Saturday morning, through a street market and were seated almost straightaway (although there was a queue when we left). We had the classic breakfast on a 3-tiered cake stand and although not that cheap it lasted us pretty much the whole day. Very much recommended

Unfortunately, very disappointing brunch and actually the first time I have ever felt the need to make a rating. The price of 22 euros for a brunch to share for 2 is extremely overpriced for the value you get - I was very disappointed by the low quality of the food, the quantity (each item is only respresented once even... You may have to fight for a table, and you will end up knee to knee with your neighbours... but the food is good and the crowd is bubbly. We shared a breakfast platter of fruits, meats, cheeses and egg. Only complaint is that my cafe latte was a little too milky, so stick with the cappuccino! This is a... More

Came for a late lunch to this highly recommended cafe. We had some interesting crepes-- some with fruits and ice cream and some with a fish dish. The coffee was excellent, as was the nuss mascarpone. The waitresses were polite, knowledgeable, efficient and cheerful, and spoke English. Don't miss this gem of Berlin!

We had both breakfast (so I don't know about the cakes or crepes) and they weren't as good as we read in the descriptions we found online. Both consisted of 50% saladleaves and a bit of fruit. The vegetables were cold and without taste and seem to came from a can or something. The shrimps were AWFUL!! Surely they were... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
