This is not just an excellent chocolaterie where you can buy top quality chocolate. It also has a great cafe on the first level, to enjoy probably the best chocolate drink in Berlin. The view from the windows of the cafe overlooking the magnificent Gendarmenmarkt Square, is the most romantic and picturesque you can get in Berlin. As for the... More

Heaven for chocolate lovers with an infinite selection of all types of chocolates, cakes, biscuits and dried fruits. The prices are on the high side but takung into consideration the quality of the items it's all worth it. A must try.

We had dinner on a Friday night, it closes early so if you want to eat get there by 6. Chocolate and cocoa are sprinkled on everything, from the coffee to the pork to the pasta to the dessert (of course). An interesting twist to a savory meal.

Planned visit for days highly recommended came away angry and disappointed with no hot chocolate!. Wonderful experience in the shop downstairs then excitedly made our way upstairs and waited,as requested, to be seated. Waitress and then the waiter (working at 6.40 on Saturday 20th May - just to be clear for employers benefit) saw us waiting and totally ignored us.... More

We visited the Rause chocolate shop on a Sunday morning after going to Mass at St. Hedwig's which is nearby. I had initially discovered this shop on trip advisor when researching our Berlin trip and then had it pointed out while on a walking tour of Berlin as well. We visited on Sunday morning for morning tea. Now, they don't... More

If your store is a hit with tourists and locals alike you need to hire people than do not get bored being asked where is the restaurant. It is not evident for a newcomer that you need to take the elevator to go to the restaurant. Regarding their offering, I had a chocolate cake with jam inside (I think it... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
