We dropped in on a holiday night and the place was hopping with couples having dance lessons and music playing. The drink and food menu is extensive from authentic German dishes to pizza. We seen two pizza come out of the kitchen and they looked fantastic. So we ordered two pizzas a Pizza Zingara it had mozzarella, onions, bacon, peppers,... More

Nice location near Sbahn, the teacher of dancing course is nice and profession. First time experiencing having a dinner with live music and dance. Not just ordinary dance but ballroom dance. Tango, salsa, waltz, etc. Feels like seeing a movie being filmed in front of us.

By far the best place to grab something to eat and some drinks in Mitte. The terrace is just great, especially in early spring when it's not yet too crowded. It has a great laid-back vibe.

Loved my evening here. All ages dancing away to tunes I hadn't heard for years. Good feeling place. Band came on later in the evening and again the room was bouncing. Good fun!

Simple: the food is good, the wine is good, the music is good. Expected more. Why they are selling tickets for Gypsy night is an affair wrapped in mystery.

Hidden in the old section of Mitte it is a very interesting location which has reasonably been preserved to remind us of the past. A nice ballroom which must have seen many moment of glory. It is revived today offering dancing evenings and dining. Service is acceptable while food needs a lot of improvement.

a bit hard to find, but a GREAT place to hang out ... I went there with some girlfriends from UK, who had found it before. It was 'Salsa Night', and the place was PACKED ... wonderful atmosphere, the pizza left a LOT to be desired, but it hardly seemed important. I'd love to go back for 'Tango Night' ...... More

I am giving Clärchens 5 stars, and it is not because of the food or the service (it's not that great). But .. This dancehall is a beautiful and authentic piece of Berlin history and is particularly evocative of that magical "Weimar Era" of Berlin in the 1920s. Of the more than 300 dancehalls that used to be scatted through... More

Late summer in Berlin; the temps are surprisingly mild and we were looking for a place to look outside, while enjoying a healthy and happy snack. The menu promised a large green salad with "Pfifferlinge," a season inspired, very tasty, mushroom. We waited for 15 minutes before the waiter showed; he must have been tired or something else but was... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
