Very good French cuisine, good wines, perfect service and reasonably priced. Perfect! Especially the steak tartare is very tastefully prepared at your table.

Very good basic german snitzel and asparagus by the river is something you should do when in Berlin. Good food but the waiters were not very friendly and a bit bothered by us, we were a large group and we wanted to add a table to the two we had chosen so we could all sit together but that was... This is close to Friedrichstr. station and looks cosy and inviting from the street. However, it is very small with even smaller tables whilst the food comes from another restaurant - our waiter kept running back and forth between locations. The food was reasonable but the so named Tarte a Flambe are actually pizzas. There are no toilets and the... More

We enjoyed our lunch by the riverside on the day of our arrival, so we returned for dinner on our last night ans were not disappointed. We tried different things from the same menu, and both times we were impressed with the food and the service.

There are 3 restaurants with bars and music in a row and during summer they seemed all merging into each other in their outdoor seating. The serving girls were quick and the drinks menus were varied and good.the outside late summer ambiance was delightful near the river.Between the place and the outdoor seating is a road! There is a wandering minstrel... More

This is a very typical german/bavarian style of restauarant. Seafood and soups. Really nice quality. Just next to the river off Freidkstrasse on a cobbled street. I could imagine this hasnt changed much in 50 years - but thats a good thing.

Upmarket French brasserie in Berlin. Food was delicious. Service not so much. Wine was kept in a central area. We finished the first glass and wanted a top-up. Waited well over 5 minutes with empty glasses and eventually managed to ask a waitress (not our original waiter) to pour some wine. Just got her to leave our bottle on our... More

A Brasserie with a French flavor and service in the middle of Berlin. After our visit to the Theater, the best place to share a late dinner, with Escargot, or a good fish as main course. Service, decoration and food are match. Texture of each dish and flavors are delicious. Beside to the fact a quite good and fast service... More

The location is very nice, I can imagine in summer what it would be like dining outside on the river Spree bank with the evening breeze. The restaurant itself is quite elegant and has a cozy atmosphere. The maître and the staff are very kind, efficient and make you feel very welcomed and pampered. Food is delicious, overall the steaks... More

Description
Vive la France - at the Schiffbauerdamm.
Gourmets and fans of the French cuisine are pampered by the Brasserie Ganymed on the highest culinary standards. In former times, Bert Brecht and Helene Weigel stopped here to enjoy the cooking and the authentic Parisian air. The dishes are prepared with fresh, regional products and special French delicacies; the waiters celebrate flambeing, carving and filleting in front of the guests. On hot days and warm summer nights, be sure to secure a place on the Spree Terrace.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
