Our plane arrived an hour late. So we only made it around 22h30 to the restaurant and were still greeted with the utmost friendliness. Service was very friendly all evening and fast as well (without hurrying us). The food was excellent! Deftige Deutsche Hausmannskost. We will most definetely go back when we go to Berlin again!

Traditional old pub serving large portions of good hearty food at very reasonable prices. The service is very friendly and efficient too. Highly recommended.

I was really hoping for a good, authentic home-cooked German meal on my last night in Berlin. I picked this place because it sounded like it would be just the ticket. Being that it was Valentine's Day, I had to sit at the bar because they claimed I needed a reservation. Yet, there were very few people in the restaurant.... More

For a taste of german food for non residents, this is a good choice. Hearty appetites are well satisfied here. A very pleasant experience.

The restaurant is situated near Alexanderplatz at the beginning of Nikolai-Viertel. The inside is very cosy and one part looks like an old living room of the last century. The offer of tipical German dishes is very rich (meat, fish and vegetable dishes) and very generous. The taste is the one of the dishes our grandmothers cooked - very tasty... More

This restaurant is related to its neighbor Mutter Hoppe (daughter of the owner owns this place) and we were told by our hotel receptionist that this would be a good place for a traditional German meal. The restaurant indeed serves traditional German food in a classic German atmosphere. As you would expect, everything screams German, including the waitresses' outfits. Although,... More

I ordered a champignons salad and after I ate just a little bit of that I found a living bug on top of the salad leaves. I called the waitress and her reaction was shockingly rude: she just took the dish away without saying not even a word and she completely ignored us, without asking if I would have liked... More

Following a recent visit to Berlin we came across a very busy restaurant (on 11th November) which we later found out was St. Martins day. The Goose we had was excellent, the Berliner Pilsner washed everything down a treat. Put the entertainer (playing the organ and guiter whilst singing) made for a great night... Apologies i forgot his name and... More

Great cuisine, moderate prices. Friendly staff. The place is popular: came about an hour after opening on Sunday - it was already full, I was offered a place only because was alone. Observed many folks reserving tables via phone and personally. After delicious lunch there I'm sure they are right and won't regret securing themselves a table

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
