Following a recent visit to Berlin we came across a very busy restaurant (on 11th November) which we later found out was St. Martins day. The Goose we had was excellent, the Berliner Pilsner washed everything down a treat. Put the entertainer (playing the organ and guiter whilst singing) made for a great night... Apologies i forgot his name and... More

Great cuisine, moderate prices. Friendly staff. The place is popular: came about an hour after opening on Sunday - it was already full, I was offered a place only because was alone. Observed many folks reserving tables via phone and personally. After delicious lunch there I'm sure they are right and won't regret securing themselves a table

Near TV antenna, this is an traditional food place that you must visit, the food is great the price is fair and my only complaint is about the time to the attendees arrive in your table, but this is not a big deal.

Nice restaurant with outdoor seating, very large menu, very good food. The inside is just as appealing as the outside. If the German menu is difficult to figure out, they have an English menu available.

We love German food and this was clearly the best we've had in Germany or in the US. Our server was the best, helping us order and so friendly, even though her English was not so good...it was a lot better than our German!

We were there for dinner on a weekday. Although the restaurant was not full and had many empty tables left, a waitress informed us that we should best sit in the entrance area on high chairs and small tables because of the stroller for the baby. Another waiter intervened and led us to a corner table with enough space. The... More

Can honestly say that this is one of the finest restaurants I've eaten at around the world. The prices were fair and the food excellent. The duck was the finest I've ever had. If you want a traditional German restaurant that offers quality, value and service come here.

Visited in this very nice restaurant on the way to the Konzert Haus. We choose bratwurst with sauerkraut and potatoes accompanied with wine and beer. Everything was excellent. Also the staff was very polite. We really like the outlook of the nice restaurant. Maybe a table reservation would be a good idea. Right after I took the photo the restaurant... More

We spent a lot of time looking for the perfect place to have some traditional German eats in Berlin and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is akin to eating at Oma and Opa's house.Service was fast and everything was cooked to perfection. All 6 in our party were tremendously happy with our dinners. Prices are decent. Would most definitely... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
