The best pork knee I've ever eaten. See the picture and you will see. The waiters was very nice. I would like to return.

We ordered drinks and our meal. Initially very good service. The drinks came and we waited for our meal, And we waited, And we waited, And we waited. About 40 minutes!!! When we asked a waiter how long our food would be he bluntly said, "I don't know" and walked away. And we waited... My wife went in to try... More

Disappointing dinner. Grabbed a table outside as the indoor staff suggested. Sat for 10 minutes before able to flag down someone to get us drinks. Ordered still water and got sparkling water. After 5 min and trying to find our waiter to fix the situation we found the manager who got the water situation fixed and took our food order.... More

A teat for anyone who loves true hofbrauhaus/beer hall food. This place and Zum Schiffcen Düsseldorf are the two archytipical beer halls that you have to try Forget your diet, just enjoy the beer and the great food. Place is always busy, so don't expect to be fawned upon by the busy waiters (but they're not as bad as I... More

A full kilogram of the best schweinshaxn this trip. Crisp skin, tender and juicy meat, full flavor. The sausages, goulash and other dishes we had were great but it was that pork knuckle that was memorable.

Went to this restaurant specifically. A large area, traditional kitchen, very good interior. The waiters are fast and professional. Potato soup is excellent, good beer. Main course - burnt meatballs, pork knuckle baked until dry on the outside hard cover, but the inside was bland and almost tasteless and dry

The food and obviously the beer are outstanding here. Chances to get a table are, as with a lot of beer halls that are busy: easier if you are German (or at least speak German with the correct accent). The night we went it was cool and the streets were deserted...it comes as a surprise when one open the door... More

Food was delicious when it finally arrived. It was clear that our order was lost after a long wait and to be fair the boss comped us a couple of beers for our troubles. Pretzel was way too salty (and they charge for butter can you believe)! Pork knuckle was excellent. Fried potatoes arrived with the dessert which was bizarre... More

Part of a chain of bar/ restaurants in Berlin. This one was two blocks from our hotel. Had drinks here one afternoon and one evening. Staff generally helpful and pleasant. Drinks on the pricey side. Surveyed the food menus and opted on the last day to have lunch here - traditional German dish of Pork, dumpling and German cabbage. Very... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
