Large traditional German dining hall; friendly staff and good atmosphere. Huge plates of meat balls and Goulash with red cabbage. The meals were tasty and filling.

Nice and typical. Correct prices. An occasion to taste the Berlin cuisine. Close to Alexanderplatz, you cannot miss it (Hofbrauhaus is just one the other side of the road).

Had lunch here while visiting. Interior decor has some rustic elements, but the atmosphere was somewhat lost. Service was ok and a little slow but the food was good. The portion was large and is good enough to keep me full all throughout the rest of the day.

We really only visited for a drink, but decided to have something to eat. We visited on the afternoon of Sunday 25th September and sat outside. The choices on the menu were quite limited. Four of us had the schnitzel and one of us had the curry-wurst (thankfully that wasn't me!). The Schnitzel itself was large and adequate (nothing special),... More

We enjoyed a nice, German-style meal here with friends one evening during a recent visit. We might not have picked this restaurant if we had not been staying close by, but it was good. The owner/host was friendly and made sure we got our drinks- mostly beer- quickly. All of us enjoyed our meals; quality was very good. We sat... More

We ordered and then we waited and waited until we flagged down our waiter who acknowledged he had forgotten to place our order. He was very apologetic and we agreed to stay and wait for our dinner which was good and fairly priced. As the place was full it appears to be a local favourite.

This is an absolutely fantastic restaurant that we have been to on numerous occasions as it's such a wonderful place to visit. The interior is really impressive with a traditional authentic decorative scheme with plenty of seating options and the outside terrace is fantastic . We were here on a Wednesday late afternoon and the restaurant was really starting to... More

Waitress was very offhand on arrival and throughout service. The other staff were more friendly! Food was OK but nothing special - large portions but chips were overcooked.

Came here with my wife for some genuine Berlin fair. We were not disappointed. My wife had the fried trout which was outstanding. Service was fine, food was great. This place should be rated more highly than it currently is.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
