Booked a table for a new years eve meal before we travelled and were not disappointed. Lovely food, great service and some wonderful memories made. Many thanks! Would definitely recommend a visit.

My wife and I spent 6-day vacation in Berlin on the last week of December 2016. We wanted to experience high-quality German food. I did some initial research checking with Trip Adviser and some other sites. E.T.A Hoffmann was highly recommended. We had great expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We made reservation via bookatable.com, yet when we... More

Went here on a recommendation from a native Berliner who said it was a little pricey but worth it and it was! Restaurant was very quiet for a saturday night which was a bit of a shame but not the end of the world and it ensured first rate service. We sat outside in the court yard and had lovely... More

Excellent French crèmant (bubbbles) to start. One side of the table had the vegetarian menu and it was a great choice. Well balanced ingredients. Excellent meat (veal) at the other side but in quantity a bit too much. Very good service, attentive, and good team players. Reasonable bill taking into account quality and setting.

We went here on the recommendation of our concierge, as it looks like others have too. Don't get me wrong the food was good, but overall it was just quite an average experience. There was nothing to wow us; it was trying to be fine dining but it was far too fussy. Staff were friendly. Vegetarian option was pasta and... More

This restaurant was highly recommended to us and we were treated as lepers. The menu is small, the quality was good but no one came near us except to take our order. Otherwise we were ignored.

This was a real surprise. We had an excellent tasting menu, accompanied by superb German wines with each course. This chef showed a real passion, presenting great dishes, perfectly executed. Highly recommend

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
