We spent our last night here and splashed out on the Chateaubriand (€50) and we were not disappointed. It was cooked perfectly (though bare in mind they tend to cook things a little rarer on the continent than we would in Britain- go medium if you actually want medium rare). The staff were very polite and spoke flawless English. There... More

This restaurant less easy to find and therefore probably less busy than it deserves. A restaurant with opportunities. Its on the first floor in the melia hotel above their tapas restaurant. It is also a spanish based restaurant but with international influences like the french for example. Staff may appear a bit clumpsy also as they not all speak the... More

We were late for dinner so choose to dine in the hotel. Food was fantastic and a lovely selection of wines all at reasonable costs.

Impressive looking from the outside situated in the river close to a bridge crossing so we stopped in for an early dinner as feeling a bit peckish and in need of a drink. Restaurant already busy at 6pm but service was still prompt and we chose a degustation menu and a bottle of Rioja. Food was average with a mix... More

We chose to have a lunch there after the river cruise. We like Spanish cuisine so it was a welcoming sight in Berlin. We tried garlic prawns, small chorizo sausages in wine and croquetas de jamon (i.e. ham croquettes). Plus 2 beers. We loved the sweety taste of chorizo which was the best out of three dishes. Prawns were good... More

We stayed at Melia hotel and had dinner at the restaurant one evening. The food was really good, our mains sea bass and ribs were excellent. The service was professional . we can truly recommend

We stopped here for lunch on our visit and the staff are very unfriendly and rude. It seems that the staff are being forced to work and does not care of the service.

the cold cuts and cheeses are more varied, the main course around 4 and the bread and deserts better than most European hotels.

We had tapas lunch. This was very tasty, fun as well because of all the different tastes. The only disappointment was that, although the restaurant was nearly empty, we were seated at a small table - we were 3 and there were mutliple tapas dishes, so it was too tight. I would go again, though, because the tapas were fresh... More

We had dinner here on our last night. The chateaubriand was excellent! The waiters were fantastic and tried hard to please. This was a great end to our Berlin trip.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
