I stumbled across the gem when looking for another venue and I'm so glad I did. The complimentary bread with soft cheese was the best fresh warm brown bread I've ever had. The waiter was efficient and super friendly, recommending a very nice glass which normally was sold by the bottle - incognito. I ordered the duck breast & leg.... More

Overpriced, understaffed with truly terrible service - the food moderately interesting if not to say boring. They literally bring nothing new to the table in that neighbourhood & if the world were a fair place they would deserve to go bankrupt. But the world isn't - so instead the restaurant is full of twenty-somethings who are "starting things up" in... More

Tucholsky's has enlivened Berlin cuisine and has transformed the genre from "same old Schnitzels" to imaginative fine dining. If you want an antidote to the usual tourist fare, this is is the restaurant for you.Cheap it isn't: expect to pay £100 for a 3 course meal plus the chef's amuse bouche plus wine. Excellent use of food in season (pumpkin soup extraordinaire)... More

It was a Sunday evening and my husband and I were cycling around on our hired bikes looking for somewhere to eat when we came across this great, little restaurant with a garden terrace tucked in amongst these other buildings. It was a lovely evening to sit outside and we were attended to by the lovely Armend. The food was... More

Such amazing food, really friendly people, would suggest it to anyone! Was dreaming about a wiener schnitzel like this for a long time.

Thurs night we booked and it was half full. So good we went again on Friday. It was packed - good job we booked. It is possible to sit outside, weather permitting, but it is by a busy road, so quite noisy. The staff were very attentive, without being overbearing. We got complementary mini amuse-bouche starters of marinated beef (on... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel's receptionist because we wanted to try a local cuisine. The service is good as well as the ambiance. I didn't really know what to expect cause i never really had german food before. Comparing it to other food i had in Berlin, i'll say it's just okay.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at the Titanic hotel . 👍 For our first dinner in Berlin we wanted typical Berlin cuisine and we were not disappointed....it was delicious at this lovely establishment. 😋 On a very warm day there was a delightful outside space in which to eat and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.... Searching for traditional local food our hotel recommended Tucholsky's and we're glad they did. The restaurant has a line of 'classic' local dishes which never change, plus some other specials and steaks. MrsExPunk, an aficionado of liver dishes, chose the calves liver which was fried, served with a jus, roasted onion & apple and a favoured mashed potato. She reported... More

We visited Tucholsky's on Fri 1st July at around 7:30pm and were disappointed with the overall experience. We sat outdoors and while the terrace is nice, it is set just off a main road, resulting in lots of traffic noise throughout the meal which did spoil the ambience a little. We were given a couple of free items to start... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
