When we arrived at Zum Schusterjungen, the host asked whether we had made a reservation as it was the night before the Easter long weekend. After an initial stare which suggested we had not, he was kind enough to offer us a table for 1.5 hour period which we happily accepted as the restaurant had come to us a referral... More

This place is something of an institution in the Prinzlauerberg district of the city. It has been there since the 50's and is still going strong to-day. It is a neighbourhood Bar and Restaurant just a block away from the Eberswalder U-Bahn station in this most happening and lively section of Berlin. The staff are very welcoming and there is... More

Christmas Day and we had hoped to go to a wild boar burger joint but it was closed. As we walked back to the U we saw locals going in here so gave it a try. Full with family parties but if we didn't mind sharing a table with another couple they could squeeze us in. Excellent German food, great... More

I had a dinner in this very cosy german restaurant. Easy and convenient booking process through the website, very welcoming staff, nice and authentic atmosphere. The food is delicious, with a great variety of local german dishes at very reasonable prices.

We went for a christmas dinner after checking the trip advisors reviews. There was a special menu for christmas that it was really poor. The two of the three plates were ok but the portions were small. The other plate was disgusting. The beer was tasty the service was helpful expect from one of the staff that was rude. The... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
