We were looking for a place for carboloading before the Berlin half and more or less stumbled over this place. From the outside, it does not look too spectacular, but when you enter, you feel like you go on vacation in Spain. Decoration is lovely and genuine. The waitress was very attentive and nice. And the food... what can I... More

The sangria and the curry chicken appetizer were the highlight of the meal. The boquerones fritos were soggy. The paella was ok, needed more seasoning. Overall an ok. Friendly staff, that was another highlight.

It is located just across Park Inn Hotel Berlin. As we entered the door, no one came to greet us, we waited if any one will come to sit us but we were told to just look for our own table. W e ordered paella but to out disappointment the paella tasted so awful and rice was half cooked, upon... More

We had a lovely meal of fish tapas washed down with a very pleasant wine. The service was good, not rushed in any way but concerned that we were happy when they put people at nearby tables. We were well looked after, their English was ok (our German is poor) and we would return.

On a crowded Saturday evening they managed to squees us in. Friendly service. Tapas was good, not excellent but far above average. Crema Catalane was superb. Mostly local guests.

Las Olas is located right by Alex, so we stopped by one of our first nights in Berlin. Disappointing tapas, mostly because it felt like a German attempt at Spanish food. None of the food was horrible, but definitely very average. The service was good and we had a delicious cin-sugar dessert.

This is a large but cozy place with great waitstaff who speak English. My husband had a delicious steak with hollandaise sauce, sautéed green beans and fries. I had tapas...the octopus salad and the Spanish omelette. I wasn't up for a big dinner but he was. We shared a bottle of Spanish red wine. Everything was great. We will come... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
