Visited on Christmas day to sample typical german dishes (Berlin has a lot of Asian influenced restaurants). Friendly atmosphere and staff. Menus are in german only, though one of the waitresses was able to translate into english. Quality of the food is good and quantity is very generous. Prices are reasonable but as others have warned, it is cash only.... More

We had a wonderful time with old colleagues. Venue was quiet enough to be able to hear each other to be able to catch up on the last year's news in a homely pleasant environment.

The food was very good! The pasta parcel dishes were great. The only annoying thing was that the (reasonably expensive) restaurant did not take credit card and it seemed more of a refusal by one of the waiters than anything else!

Having been unable to find any traditional German good my partner and I really enjoyed trying spatzel and dumplings with a large beer of course! Good antidote to the tourist traps. Would recommend.

We went here on the recommendation of my Lonely Planet on Europe & weren't disappointed. I enjoyed a delicious Kasespatzel & my fiancé had tasty German bangers & mash. The waiting staff were attentive & it had a nice relaxed & welcoming atmosphere.

Great little neighbourhood restaurant! Had a lovely dinner on the small patio. Nice place for drinks, cozy and hip place, plus friendly service and some decent vegetarian options. Would definitely return.

I came here twice on my 5-day stay in Berlin. This is traditional German food, reminded me of my Grandma's cooking. Great, friendly service and cool atmosphere. Very busy spot, make reservations for dinner. I also came back here for breakfast which was excellent. Recommend the pork with sauerkraut and the sampler plate for a starter!

So my first Berlin meal at the start of a business related week trip. I just wanted a healthy Ish snack and ended up with the little platter of Black Forest ham, goats cheese and fish. Pretty damn tasty. One of our group had the unusual Pizza. Good coffee here. Informal atmosphere and seating. Almost a pub restaurant Service was... More

On the menu, it says they only take cash because they want our money to go into decent food, not indecent banks. It immediately makes them look likeable, but it also serves as a good description of the bacon and apple flammekueche I had for lunch; it was decent but nothing more. On the other hand, the dish I had... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
