Started off on our Viking Cruise with a tour of Passau on a Saturday morning. Well, Café Simon was expecting us. Since it was Christmas time, they had setup a tent in the back of their bakery/café for our group. IT was a gingerbread demonstration, how fun was that. Simon Sr., and Jr., were doing this demonstration, fun to watch... More

This is a family owned business that has made for years three types of gingerbread. We have attended twice their presentation on how they make their gingerbread. The demonstration included a sampling of all three kinds of gingerbread with a cup of gluhwein. The café also has a case of the most wonderful looking cakes which we did not sample... More

We attended a gingerbread demonstration and tasting as part of a walking tour and just had to return for coffee and cake the same afternoon. The cafe has a good selection of coffees. We enjoyed the drinks but it was the cake that stole the show. We were spoilt for choice. You can spend time choosing from the display before... More

We traveled her to see the gingerbread demonstration. It was very informative and the samples of the different type of gingerbread were tasty. We were given a gingerbread ornament to take home and glut wine to keep us warm. Very enjoyable.

Our TAUCK riverboat SAVOR arranged for a private gingerbread comparative tasting with multi-generational owner cooks. Delicious. Fun.

The baked goods are why you come here. The selection is large and diverse. Seating is crowded and not especially comfortable. Service was slow and not well organized. Prices are about average for a cafe. Coffee, tea and chocolate selections are pretty standard.

It doesn't look like much from the riverside, but you get some surprisingly good Strudel here. Coffee is good as well, all in all a nice place to have a break from sightseeing.

This was our second visit to a Cafe Simon. It's a great place to stop for coffee, and they have great pastries. It's also a good place to shop for cookies to take home as souvenirs. The first time we were here, it was in December during the Christmas Market season. We saw a gingerbread making demonstration, and were able... More

This traditional cafe offers good food and a wide selection of cakes. The ambiance is pleasant and the staff are friendly. There is also a shop selling chocolate and pralines. There is a rear terrace which is also comfortable. The only downside is that sometimes there are tour groups from the danube cruise ships who stream through the cafe with... More
